Ching-Liang Lin was born in Okayama, Takao, Empire of Japan back in 193. She graduated from the Kaohsiung Municipal Girls’ Senior High School. After graduation, she enrolled in the University of Tokyo where she graduated with a doctorate in physics in 1966. She returned to Taiwan in 1970 where she was asked to create a physics department at Soowchow University.The same year she married Feng and the couple left around 1972 to the United States where they worked at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. From 1981-83 she became a professor of physics at the National Taiwan University. During that time an audit of the department was arranged and it was found that a radioactive source that was meant to be stored safely was missing.
