It's A Northern Thing It's another ice day in Huntsville, Alabama and that usually means schools and businesses will have a delayed start or declared closed for the day. After assessing the roads in my neighborhood and chopping through a thick layer of ice on my car windows I decided there would be few other cars on the road and the drive would be fairly easy...it was, but mostly for the lack of cars. Snow And Ice Storm Hits Huntsville AL Huntsville, Alabama was hit with a little snow and an ice storm on Friday that pretty much brought the city and most of Northern Alabama to a stand still. Streets in entire towns and counties were proclaimed impassable. In fact I didn't heed the warning and couldn't get out of the Village of Providence Friday night, the roads were terrible...cars couldn't climb very small inclines without tires spinning...cars going nowhere, except where you didn't want them to go like sliding sideways off the side of the road. So, I made the best of it by working a little more at the office, then going to Grille 29 for dinner and booking a room at the Spring Hill Suites in Providence...all three places within walking or skating distance! Who Says I Don't Have The Christmas Spirit?  This should dispel any rumors that I don't have the Christmas Spirit this year or that I don't like to decorate. What you see in the photo was actually several years in the making - a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into it.  I saved and nurtured the tree that is an outgrowth of the original tree that once stood there, but was destroyed by the April 27, 2011 tornadoes. I negotiated like a pro when purchasing that ornament (This is good since I negotiate for a living). The store wanted $2.96, but I talked them down to $1! Also, the bird bath came from my home in Woodstock, Illinois several years ago...this is appropriate because I'm expecting Charlie Brown's friend of the same name, "Woodstock" to show up anytime.
