Our experts say borrowers stand to save from around $1,500 to $3000 by comparison shopping and gathering multiple quotes from lenders. By Melissa Dittmann Tracey   WASHINGTON – As mortgage rates surge and remain volatile, it’s becoming increasingly necessary for home buyers to shop around for a loan to find savings. According to Freddie Mac, borrowers potentially could save an average of $1,500 over the life of a loan by gathering one additional rate quote from a lender. And borrowers could save even more by gathering five different quotes from lenders—up to $3,000, Freddie Mac research shows. Every dollar may help as housing affordability reaches a critical threshold. The typical U.S. household will no longer be able to afford a median-priced home when mortgage rates reach 5.7%, Nadia...

What Experts Say Will Happen with Home Prices Next YearExperts are starting to make their 2023 home price forecasts. As they do, most agree homes will continue to gain value, just at a slower pace. Over the past couple of years, home prices have risen at an unsustainable rate, leaving many to wonder how long it would last. If you're asking yourself: what's ahead for the price of my home, know that experts are now answering this question, and its welcome news for homeowners who may have been led by the media to believe their home would lose value.Historically, home prices have appreciated at a rate near 4%. For 2023, the average of six major forecasters noted below is 2.5%. While one, Zelman & Associates, is calling for depreciation, the other five are calling for appreciation. The graph...

In Mount Laurel and the rest of New Jersey, we know the story: things are tight financially, so you either (1) do not file your income tax return, or (2) you file your income tax return but don't pay the balance due. But do not worry, you tell yourself, next year will be better. Now it is 3-4 years later and the IRS letter arrives , and the threats start, and maybe it has even gotten to the point of actual levy and seizure activity. Now the IRS is wreaking havoc on your financial life and you simply do not know what to do or where to go.OnPoint Resolution know. We have helped many clients through that exact scenario. Fear not, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. As it turns out the IRS is usually only too happy to work with taxpayers, but there are some ground rule you need to be ...

After months and months we're in. This was a Million Dollar remodel and worth every penny of it.Yesterday was our "soft opening" , you can imagine how excited we were. It's not quite finished. In this picture you can see that we have not put up the 12' rugged cross we just had received.Prior to the remodel this was a very narrow hall way lined with closets. This will be a fellowship area next to our new kitchen. It will be great for coffee and conversation before and after worship. The kitchen is compact and oped to two areas including the fellowship area pictured above. This was an absolute total remodel taking the building down to the stick walls AND even replacing an exterior wall and adding reinforcing beams that went 6' into the ground on top of cement pads. There are areas that I di...

(Mortgage Consultant, Right Trac Financial Group, Inc. NMLS # 2709)
“Hi Joe,I have been ready emails for a number of months, they have truly been informative. The last one really got my attention. You did the mortgage on our 2 family home a number of years ago. After reading all the emails about income properties, we are going to keep our current home. We have a little under $40,000 left on our mortgage, receiving $1,250 rent on the second floor, which pays the mortgage with about $100 per month left over. We contacted a real estate friend and discussed finding a piece of land, so we will start that search. We want to build a 3 bedroom—2 bath house. Our son has two friends that build houses, so we will start that discussion. If I recall, we need 3.5% down, which we have. Will look forward to our working together again, let us know what you need from us...

Motivational Monday…Use What You Know, Learn What You Don’t Know The other night, a friend was over until 11 pm while I helped him with a word document.  He is 75 and is someone who many would say shouldn’t own a computer.  Unfortunately, he has Alzheimer's. I have to hand it to him though because he is not letting that stop him.    Working with him, I showed him how to change the font size and font and reminded him to save the document. (I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he can remember this until tomorrow when he has asked for more help.) I think tasks involving the computer are harder for him because in his work he always had an assistant who took care of this, while topics such as sports and business are easier for him to remember because they have always been in his life.  Use it...

( HomeRome Realty 410-530-2400)
I had just graduated from Nursing School and had my dream job working in the Pediatric Clinic at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. It was time for my first car, my graduation gift from my mom. When I went car shopping, I found the perfect vehicle. Sitting on the dealer's lot was a white (less than a year old) convertible Chevelle Malibu with a red leather interior. Yep, I was in love! The price was $2995.00My budget was only $2000, and I decided to try something.   I had a check made out to the dealership for two grand. What did I have to lose? I told the dealer I wanted to take the car to my mechanic, and if it checked out, I wanted to purchase it. Without any discussion, I handed him a check one-third less than the asking sticker price. He reached for the check, saw the amount, and shook h...

Fourteen years ago, when I moved to Florida I started briefly in Saint Augustine and made a group of Florida natives my friends.  When you have grown up with hurricanes you might have a different outlook on hurricanes than somebody like me moving to Florida from PA/MD.  They shared with me about Hurricane Parties, what?  Yes, they agree to meet at somebody’s home, bring a lawn chair and sit in the garage with the garage door open and watch the hurricane, really?  I also learned there is an official Hurricane Party Drink, here is the Florida version of a Hurricane Drink.Ingredients:2 ounces light rum2 ounces dark rum3 ounces passion fruit juice (or juice blend)3 ounces orange juiceJuice of half a lime2 tablespoons grenadine syrupOrange slices and maraschino cherries for garnish, if desir...
