We’re in a Sellers’ Market. What Does That Mean? Even though activity in the housing market has slowed from the frenzy we saw over a year ago, today’s low supply of homes for sale is still a sellers’ market. But what does that really mean? And why are conditions today so good if you want to list your house? It starts with the number of homes available for sale. The latest Existing Home Sales Report from the National Association of Realtors (NAR) shows housing supply is still astonishingly low. Today, we have a 2.6-month supply of homes at the current sales pace. Historically, a 6-month supply is necessary for a ‘normal’ or ‘neutral’ market in which there are enough homes available for active buyers (see graph below):What Does This Mean for You?When the supply of homes for sale is as low ...

We recently visited Gulf Shores, Alabama and decided to take a day trip to Fairhope, a quaint, old town on the shores of Mobile Bay.  As we were exploring the area, we stumbled upon a wonderful bookstore, Page and Pallette. They featured local writers and even had books signed by various authors, including one written by Rick Bragg.  The only way I knew him was that he is the featured author at the end of every Southern Living Magazine.  Mr. Bragg seems to get to the essence of life in the South from a different angle.  I love his short vignettes.  I decided to try one of his books, The Most They Ever Had.  I was not disappointed. From the New Orleans Times-Picayune"Bragg has a true gift for great story telling, the kind...that makes you thinkit's just a plain old story, until he gets to...

There are countless different ways in which home and business owners can benefit from making the switch to solar power, but that doesn’t mean it should be a decision that’s taken lightly, and without due consideration of the facts. With this in mind, here are 5 important considerations to make before you have solar panel installation done and start generating your own, clean, green energy:1. Choose your solar panel provider wiselyWhile it can be tempting to automatically go with the solar panel provider that offers you the lowest price, this is often a recipe for disaster. That said, choosing the most expensive provider doesn’t mean that you’re getting the best deal. Carefully consider the estimates given to you by at least 3 or 4 local solar providers, and try to pick one that offers q...

But what is alien may just be a HUGE blessing. The BIG alien I always dreamed of in Real Estate was to list a million dollar home. In the history of Minot ND there have been less than six homes listed for a Million dollars and the most expensive home I had listed was less then $400,000. Listing a million dollar home would have been alien to me, scary yet a blessing at the same time.I made a good living in Real Estate and I had many types of listings from mobile homes to beautiful new homes in the upper sales range of Minot homes... but never a million dollar mansion. During my career I had also listed commercial and some large swaths of farm land so I did meet a few aliens and they made me money but didn't meet my personal dream.Dream On!Whether you are a brand new licensee or near retir...

Cleaning might not be your favorite thing to do, but by doing a little bit of it every day, you can help keep your home clean and tidy, and reduce the need for end of week, or once a month cleaning sessions that sometimes take hours of your valuable time. Here are 5 house cleaning tasks that when done every day, will prevent dust, dirt and clutter from building up, and which will help control the spread of potentially harmful germs and allergens:1. Speed-clean the showerIt’s surprising just how quickly soap scum and mildew can build up in a shower, and once they have built up, they’re a nightmare to get rid of. By giving your shower a quick onceover every day, however, you can keep unsightly stains at bay, here’s how to do it:Fill a spray bottle with diluted white vinegar, grab a sponge...

This is an excellent post with great information. Thanks for sharing it.Have a super fantastic week!Joe Jackson, Realtor-KWCP Buying a new house is an achievement that deserves to be celebrated. It's a big step in anyone's life, and it's only fitting to mark the occasion with a memorable celebration. There are many ways to celebrate, but here are seven ideas to get you started: 1. Host a Housewarming Party One of the most traditional ways to celebrate a new home is to host a housewarming party. This event can be as simple or as elaborate as you like, depending on your budget and preferences. You can invite close friends and family, or you can invite everyone you know. You can even turn it into a potluck, where everyone brings a dish to share. 2. Plan a Movie Night Another way to celebra...

Thanks for sharing it.Have a super fantastic week!Joe Jackson, Realtor-KWCP Spring Cleaning Tips…More Forgotten Areas!   In a recent post, I mentioned some often neglected areas when it’s time to tackle spring cleaning projects.      Don’t stop there, though!  Here are more often forgotten areas that need cleaning…   -The Microwave We use these almost every day. Besides wiping the inside walls, don’t forget to clean the turntable. Remove it and clean under it as well.  You can also use vinegar in a bowl of water to eliminate any odors. -Cabinets Just as you cleaned and organized your pantry, the cabinets need help as well. Toss out what you aren’t using. You can use Murphy’s Oil Soap on cabinets but check with your manufacturer first.   ...

This is an excellent post with great information. Thanks for sharing it.Have a super fantastic week!Joe Jackson, Realtor-KWCP The Role of Access in Selling Your House   Once you've made the decision to sell your house and have hired a real estate agent to help, they'll ask how much access to your home you want to give potential buyers. Your answer matters more now than it did in recent years. Here's why. At the height of the buying frenzy seen during the pandemic, there was a rise in the number of homebuyers who put offers on houses sight unseen. That happened for three reasons: Extremely low housing inventory A lot of competition from other buyers wanting to take advantage of historically low mortgage rates And general wariness of in-person home tours during a pandemic Today, the marke...

CHARLOTTE IS NOW HOME TO BUBBLY PAWS!CHARLOTTE'S FIRST SELF-SERVICE DOG SALON. Most of us have heard of and/or experienced self-service car washes, self-service laundromats, self-service "kiosks" for food, stamps, tickets, self-service scanners at grocery stores, self-service bank ATMs. But have you heard that Charlotte now has a self-service dog wash? Bubbly Paws  opened in March in Charlotte's South End neighborhood at 191 New Bern Street.
