Tony Lewis As a Christian Realtor, I see the biggest lesson in this:
Willy searched for his worth in success. We should find our worth in who we are, not just what we do.
A real estate career can be incredibly rewarding. We help families begin new chapters, achieve dreams, and build wealth through homeownership.
But end of day, the number of transactions we've closed will never matter as much as the lives we've touched.

Tony Lewis I have not seen Death of a Salesman, but I am sure there are some similarities.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
2 a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
3 a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.

Yes, this is a good comparison to make Tony as agents tend to be legends in their own minds instead of customer service specialists Tony Lewis

Following Thomas J. Nelson, REALTOR ® CRS,ABR,PSA,RCS-D, CFSP in this Q&A section makes it easy. Agree and move on. Thomas planted a garden, waters it regularly and short of posting "no trespassing signs" controls it. His competition is himself.

🧐Huh?
Nobody is moving me anywhere, except maybe Ailina Nelson who may eventually have me relocated to the funny farm with full supporting documentation. 🤪
As for the “new blood” moving me out? Please. I’m 37 years wiser than the newbies, just as tech-savvy as they are, and I’ve already survived more market shifts, pandemics, tech revolutions, bad advice, and “this changes everything” headlines than most of them have had listing appointments.
I have no “forever ambition.” I’ll retire when I decide to retire. There will come a time it makes sense to do so. But not from "younger pressures" - from a desire to retire.
Until then, I’m not Death of a Salesman.
I’m more like Death of the Amateur Hour.
I rule the roost until I hand over the keys... and even then, I’ll probably leave a strongly worded note on how they’re using the lockbox APP wrong. 😂

There can certainly be some correlations between the two, especially those agents that get bent out of shape over the constant changes in the industry, competition, and technology.

Despite the proximity to me since the play is set in the home of Willy Loman in Brooklyn, I don't concern myself with new blood or old blood and don't see myself in . My importance will not be determined by me, but in the lives that I have impacted. Not every deal will have a client that will view me in a way that will have a lasting memory- though of course that is our objective.
My take is put your head down, do the work the right way for the right reasons and it will pay off. It's not about self-importance/ego- though it does often attach, but how you can help your clients.
I just created a FSBO seller's guide this week- which seems counter-intuitive, but when you realize that 97% of FSBO's in my area eventually hire an agent- it's anything but. I wish the owner can succeed on their own, but few are able to in my market- and when the reality hits- I would love to help and be the one they consider helpful.

I did not see Death of a Salesman.
Speaking of my experience only, the "new blood" only opens more opportunities for me - as they cannot compete with my wisdom, experience, and ethical standards.

Because the "new blood" has shown again and again that they can only survive/thrive in super-easy, highly profitable market conditions.
The average real estate agent isn't being replaced by some disruptor - they're being replaced by really good/great real estate agents and teams.

I 've heard of Death of a Salesman but haven't read the play.
My thought are today's agent whether new or old must be data driven and technology equipped.
When I got my NC license in 2007, texting was becoming popular and Facebook was on the scene. A few years after electronic signatures became popular. At first some of the oldies but goldies would only handwrite contracts, wouldn't do electronic signatures and refused to text. They disappeared pretty quickly.
As someone who has had to adapt to technology and changes her entire life, I'm guess that if today's agent doesn't adapt they will be out of the picture before long.
Adapt to what? Video, AI, social media marketing, RE Company and Portal changes and anything else thrown our way.
I think we're at a crossroads where you decide to adapt to the new changes or leave the business. Some agents are retiring because they don't want to deal with all the new changes.
I recently had a newer agent say to me she doesn't know why she isn't getting more business because she's younger than many agents and grew up with technology. I just shrugged my shoulders. The truth is, if you're Gen X or Gen Jones, you mostly likely adapted to many changes and have been around technology at least since high school if not before. You're lethal because you may also have the advantage of experience. As a Boomer, you have had to adapt to many things and if you have the right mindset, you'll adapt to today's changes and challenges as well.
