I will be out of town on Easter and not in a position to hold an open house. Probably would not do one on Easter anyway.

Not everyone in America celebrates Easter.

While I rarely host open homes, way back in the days when I did, I would not let Easter weekend be a reason not to host an open home.

That is a new form of "butt hurt". As for listening skills, that is an age-old issue.

Thomas - like other stuff that can fill our baskets (err I mean minds) regarding marketing events, this may be something that confronts us quite often.  Some "believe" in open houses while others may feel they are nothing but running down a rabbit hole.  Whatever decision is made - go for it - perhaps bite the head of one of those peeps.  I digress.

😀 That's a funny bunny. Both of them.

I did not have serious buyers showing up in the open house around Christmas. Maybe, open house traffic will be less at Easter, too. But, if you can do the open house, there will be some value, and sometimes it surprises us, and we realize the value after the open house.

I would say it would be like asking if you should do an Open on Christmas day...........? Our office is closed on Easter Sunday. I agree with Roy Kelley , do it on Saturday

Hi Thomas J. Nelson, REALTOR ® CRS,ABR,PSA,RCS-D, CFSP I can't address it from an agen'ts perspective however when we were relocating to Northern VA in a seller's market, we wrote a contract on Easter Sunday.

Thomas J. Nelson, REALTOR ® CRS,ABR,PSA,RCS-D, CFSP hi Thomas... I've always loved this cartoon... I've seen it a gazillion times but I crack up laughing each time I do! 😂 For me, generally no open houses. But certainly not on holidays like Easter weekend, Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.

The first night of Passover is Wednesday this year- with the seders taking place on Wednesday and Thursday evening- so while the rest of the holiday continues through and past the weekend- it's not the same Sunday showings  impact as when Easter Sunday coincides with the first 2 nights of Passover. While I do expect open house traffic to be lower due to Easter- there will still be people that want to look at homes. At least this year it's not the double whammy of both Passover Seders and Easter.

I really did not enjoy open houses, and would try NOT to ever do them, but for sure would stay away from holiday weekends.   At least you (or your team) would stand a chance for good traffic.

haven’t run Easter weekend open houses personally, but the way I’d think about it: whoever shows up on Easter Sunday is NOT casually browsing. that person has already told their family ‘I need to see this house’ and navigated Easter to get there.

probably fewer bodies but higher intent than a random Saturday.

T.J., I remember having a hankering for some Chinese steamed rice, on a Sunday, & a holiday where everything is closed. On a hunch, called my local place & the owner answered saying yes, we are open. Went down, ordered, gave a large tip & thanked her for being there. In Real Estate, the buying & selling urge is a strong one. Answering & rising to that call profits all. If you are in business, be open for business. Success guaranteed if U do.

SPECIAL NOTE: This reminds me of agents (or most everyone), not answering their phones, texts or emails in a timely manner. Success & opportunity, play by their own rules Thomas J. Nelson, REALTOR ® CRS,ABR,PSA,RCS-D, CFSP

The RIGHT CHARLOTTE REALTOR!

OH my gosh, it was a GREAT weekend this weekend for an open house! We had a house-full of guests and feel that 3 buyers through (who were not accompanied by their agents but, did each, have one). I am confident one of them will be our buyer!

HOWEVER, as for Easter - not so much! I'm a big believer in opens but, not on Easter. No one has shown up in years past so, I don't offer to host them now. No 'butt hurts' in Charlotte!!

If you want to work weekend then any weekend is a good weekend for an open house.  Blocks out a few hours for marketing, either people will show up or you can make your calls while waiting for someone to show up.

Not a fan of open houses anytime but certainly not on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day or Easter. Got the urge to work, do paperwork!

No, I find that on any religious holiday the majority of people who come through are looking for a way to kill time between Church and their brunch reservation.  It's not worth being the distraction.  Long ago I stopped doing opens on holiday weekends, and a couple years back I stopped doing them all together now, with the exception of a neighborhood meet & greet open house on flip homes.
