I'm an "in the Lord's hands" kind of person, yet I don't judge people who don't. I don't think anyone will ever be moving to my state in the bible belt for the benefit. I'm a little surprised to see Tennessee. The rest don't surprise me at all.

Girl . . . this is not a black/white issue for me.
I am in good health, and believe that only a higher power gets to punch our ticket. Also that you generate some pretty dark karma for taking your own life.
But people suffering w no possible way out?
WHO DECIDES THAT?
I saw this thing today via CSPAN where a 'managed care medical director' CONFESSED to DENYING payment for treatment for a man who would have been saved, but she literally caused his death FOR PROFIT. And was rewarded with money and prestige for it . . . this goes back to the 80s!
HOW MANY MORE DIED NEEDLESSLY for PROFIT?
We cannot have Linda Peenos deciding whether our loved one or ourselves are done.
I would hope that it would not be a factor in moving here.
But our state may be changing in a lotta ways now that they've discovered the last 2 elections MINIMUM were improper.
DO WE WANT THIS IN THE HANDS OF PEOPLE LIKE THAT?
We need to get more serious about teaching our children the value of life.

Patricia,
The same people who refused to allow visits of loved ones in the hospital or re-hab facilities could very well make those type of decisions for the elderly. My favorite uncle died as a result of that!
Children who think their parents have outlived their usefullness or are greedy for money, could deem them incompetent and Kevorkian them. If others decide that is best for them, so be it, they can travel and be unalived.
God has a plan. I look up to him for guidance and faith! 🙌

In general, if people are moving to a different state, I don't think the legality of assisted death would factor into their decision of where to move. If, however, they are dying and are interested in utilizing assisted death, AND if they have to live in a state that allows it, then it might be an important factor. But in general no.

Whoa, Patricia Feager! This is a heavy topic, but let’s dive in, shall we?
So, assisted suicide is making its rounds in the legal arena, and you’re right—it's a trend that could stir the pot for buyers and sellers alike. I mean, who wants to pack up and move to a state that might have a law that feels like it's tiptoeing on the moral line? It could definitely make folks think twice about their next big life decision. “Do I really want to live in a place that’s debating whether life or death is up for discussion?” Yeah, I can see the confusion there.
Now, onto the moral standpoint—which, let’s be real, is like opening a can of worms at a family reunion. I firmly believe that legalizing assisted suicide isn’t the answer. Doctors taking the Hippocratic Oath to “do no harm”? That should mean something, right? Every life is a unique gift, and who are we to play God? Life can be messy, chaotic, and downright frustrating sometimes, but it’s also full of potential and hope—even when it doesn’t feel that way.
Imagine putting your house on the market in a state that's wrestling with these kinds of issues. Would you feel comfortable? I’d argue most folks would prefer to settle in a place just a bit sunnier—figuratively speaking!

One of my very best friends moved to Oregon many years ago because assisted suicide was legal. Some years later she was diagnosed with uncurable cancer. She took advantage of it when the time came and died very peacefully surrounded by friends. At that point her life had become a total nightmare. I can understand why she didn't want to keep living. I make no judgments.

For some buyers, things like this may very well impact their decision on State choice. Currently, MA is losing population because of taxation and very liberal policies

To answer the real estate part of your question, I do not think legalization of assisted suicide would be a deciding factor in the overwhelming majority of home buyers and sellers.
Even less of a factor than legal marijuana, open carry, abortion regulations or overall climate (blizzards/hurricanes/tornados/earthquakes/etc.).

Assisted death should be legal nationwide. They shouldn't even call it suicide. Methods should be humane ways to eliminate long drawn out suffering before death.

Not sure how you put this into law. Not sure some who assist should face criminal charges in all situations. We have seen that judges are more interested in personal thoughts or political affiliation than the law. It is human nature for weak minds. A case by case process for me.
What about greedy relatives who volunteer to assist to speed up the receipt of their inheritance?

Connecticut once again is not going to consider a similar bill for our state this year. I don't believe this particular issue will be the most influential factor in buyers' decisions. Having the law in place might make some more comfortable knowing they have the option for themselves or for their loved ones when medically appropriate.

I can't say one way or the other on this. When you get down to the basics of it all, this has been going on since the beginning of time, and will continue to go on long after I am gone. The legality or illegality of it, isn't going to stop it. So maybe assisting those that have no (or at least feel that they have no) other option fulfill their final wishes.

The only connection to Real Estate that I can see Patricia Feager ...is disclosing that someone died in or on the subject property. As to the personal ramifications, I have heard of some heart-wrenching stories of spouses begging to be killed to suffer less & it being done. They tend not to prosecute if elderly & sick. People fear dying, being a burden, being vulnerable or dependent on others thus the solution: KILL ME? He who gives life will take it. If you don't agree, taking a life, even your own, reasons or not, remains serious & has unseen, far-reaching dynamics. There are some places mankind should not go & stay away from this is one
