You're right objectively Spring arrives March 19, though some say March 20. Subjectively, arrival and departure date for seasons may be based on location, feelings/thoughts and the whims of weather in any given year. I guess I'm neutral on the topic.

It just warmed up enough that I could push the ice sheet/snow off the top of the two catios. We're still dipping below freezing most nights, but some time in later February/early March the daffodils and crocus blooms will start.

Our Spring market begins the day after SuperBowl Sunday when we tend to see a lot of new properties hit the mar... oh, wait. I think you were asking about Spring the Season, weren't you?
I just can't seem to turn it off, can I?
For those of us who like to garden, in the greater Chicagoland area, they strongly suggest not planting until after Mother's day. I know, I know... but we don't have hurricanes, tornadoes, venomous snakes, massive flooding, crocodiles, tsunamis or earthquakes.
I've learned to live with it.

In our town, we can get a late frost because of sweeping northern Utah weather patterns, that come down into the area, so our spring planting starts in April, earlier when seeding. St. George area, spring starts in March but temps are wonderful in late February!

March 20th here and everywhere SoCal; our weather typically agrees with that - give or take a couple weeks. There's no more "normal", given that global warming has altered our seasonal patterns significantly - and noticeably the last 15 years. "Weather" you believe it or not. 😉

When the poinciana trees begin blooming and the birds begin flying north. I am jealous of everyone who can grow tomatoes which I absolutely love. I live in a condo. The first city in my county is 5 miles north and used to be the tomato capital of the world before the NAFTA agreements. Now we get mushy, tasteless tomatoes in the local stores @Tammy Lankford

Ah, the age-old debate of when spring actually shows up! You’ve got the calendar telling you it’s spring on March 20th, but Mother Nature must’ve missed that meeting, right? I mean, I’d love to think she’s just a few months behind on her planner!
Honestly, I can't even think about planting in February—I've got a black thumb and can barely keep a cactus alive! But kudos to you for your pre-planting hustle. Those buttercups are brave little soldiers, aren’t they? I like to say they're the cheeky early birds of the garden world, bouncing back even in the face of snow.
For me, spring arrives when I can finally wiggle my toes in warm soil without the risk of frostbite. But let’s be real: if there's even a hint of warmer weather, I’m pretending it’s spring in my mind, plants and all! So, while I’m not exactly racing my garden to the finish line, I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for those buttercups. Let’s hope they lead the charge into warmer, sunny days!
