Thanks for checking.  I'm in Thousand Oaks, far enough away from the fires that they are not a threat.  I'm about a 45 minute drive (10-15 of that due south) from the western edge of the Palisades fires.

We're okay in San Diego, but some of my favorite clients in Pacific Palisades lost their home, and a bunch of my friends in Los Angeles are on high alert. Very sad.

A friend we used to work with in LA lived in Palisades. Curvy road up a hill to a mobilehome park right off PCH, I think many of the homes were back to the 60s or older. Last I heard from her (early 90s) just the space rent was 3k/month. Gorgeous park. Anyhoo it's leveled . . . saw it on news. 😞

The combination of fire and wind is not good.  And Los Angeles County has experienced both in recent days.  Hyperbole is often common during times like these, so I believe perspective is necessary.

I am not currently in an area that is immediately impacted but as a native Angeleno I am aware that disasters, natural and otherwise, exist in our area and elsewhere.  I am saddened by what I see and "sense" from within and away from the community.  Be kind - it's always possible.   Not exactly his attributed words but thinking once again of those Dalai Llama words at this time.

It appears that the lack of leadership in key government positions is surfacing and readily apparent. So sad so many had to lose everything because of their poor voting choice. A sad wake-up call. May all of the Rainers be safe.

I am glad to hear that all who chimed in are doing ok and not affected by the fires.  It definitely sounds like the leadership in California is failing its residents and it is very sad to watch them suffer.  I saw some video where an associate fire chief or something like that was saying that she couldn't carry people out of a fire and they shouldn't have put themselves in that situation.  Such complete insantiy and I pray that it will change.

We are on alert for high winds and high fire risk here in San Diego through tomorrow but OK now. Was in LA this morning and the air quality was terrible due to the smoke from the fires burning in the Palisades. And ash floating around as well.

This is so sad and heartbreaking.  It's so reminiscent of the Lahaina fires... some things that will happen next:

Power, water, sewer, communications will be compromised in many areas due to the excessive heat.  Pets and especially cats will need rescuing (cats have 9 lives).  The ash is toxic so avoid it by all means.  Clean up should be done by professionals. Rent prices will skyrocket in other nearby locations as landlords get greedy.  It will take years before anything substantial happens. 😰

What a tragedy I know; when Canada had fires, the air quality in Philadelphia was horrid; you could smell the smoke for weeks. We, however, did not have to worry about it spreading to our homes. So sorry for all the people who have lost their homes and are living in fear of the fires possibly spreading to their homes. What a horrible situation my thoughts and prayers are with you
