I’m embarking on a grand expedition to a little-known land called “my in-laws’ house.” It’s a mystical place filled with questionable cookbooks and endless debates about who made the best casserole in 1987. I considered taking the family to a fun location, but then I remembered that holiday traffic is basically a festive version of a slow-motion train wreck. So, instead, we’re bringing the holiday spirit to the living room—complete with a decorated tree, some questionable eggnog, and a very enthusiastic game of “Who Can Avoid the Awkward Questions This Year?”

We are fortunante to live in a highly desirable community and also having our children and grandchildren living in the vicinity.  Traveling in Southern California during the holidays is absolutely insane.  We will be staying within ten miles of home now through the New Year.  One exception is going to Sofi Stadium on Thursday to see our Los Angeles Chargers play the Denver Broncos.
