Decades ago, when my children were KIDS, I bought my son an LGB train set. Every paycheck back then, I would go to the hobby store with him & buy extra track, cars, locomotives, etc. Very expensive back then to do. Then, every XMAS, that train went around the Xmas tree. Over the years, it has made the rounds everywhere & made a lot of people so happy. Today, my great grandson 5 months old has it going around his tree. Eventually, that train will travel to his kids & his grand kids as LGB German engineers made a fine product just for this purpose. Life is good thank you Andrew

Haha, my kids were never worried about the reindeer standing around. They did wonder how Santa got into a house with no chimney. I don't remember how I answered that but it must have satisfied their curiosity!
As for now, with no littles running around the house, we don't have children related traditions that are happening now. I do continue to decorate, send Christmas Cards (a few) and make a few batches of special cookies. Traditions are open to change!

HI Andrew- since I returned to Houston, Christmas Day lunch/dinner has been at our home. In 2020 I got a Santa outfit and got my neighbor to come over. I had small packages for the children and he carried them in a large white pillow case. I didn't tell anyone and I had as much fun seeing the joy and surprise on the faces of the parents as I did the children.

I don't have any, but the "Elf on a Shelf" is popular with my friends.

Our grandkids make magic reindeer food to leave out for them.

Say WHAT?
That is a lot to unwrap.
No "traditions" carried forward in my home. I do not subscribe to the rhetoric or commercialization of Christmas.

I make Belgium waffles for breakfast. Have done so for years. It is my once a year contribution to kitchen duties. How it started, I know not but it is expected and now my grandkids think it is a good thing. Many years to go I guess.

Those hooves can be hard on the shingles, best to not let them mill around for too long.

We have dinner at our best friends' home with a house-full of people and love it! We do a 'fun' gift exchange (white elephant style) as well. It's a FUN night...then, I'm off to the house to start prepping the meal for Christmas Day!

Even as some traditions change/evolve, my family or origin typically celebrates Christmas Eve with pizza and a gift exchange.
