I was warned HEAVILY about a cat that bee-lines FOR THE DOOR EVERYTIME IT OPENS. Whoa! What stress to come & go & to show the property too. I was told: DO NOT LET THE CAT GET OUT. Suggestions to prevent where looked down on. I had to sneak in & out, watching, searching & barely opening the door knowing that cat was doing the same

My very first listing was a cat ladies' house. She had 39 cats. She had cat statutes attached to her siding(I hoped they were statutes...lol) Unfortunately she passed away and the cats occupied the home.

Most of the animals on our properties are fairly wild, watch for signs, and a few are caught on game cameras.

There was a ranch I sold in my early years and it had peacocks in an aviary as well as other lifestock. You definitely know peacocks when you hear them! LOL

A cat ran out of a house I was showing.   Called the LA.  She was in a mild panic, "You have to get that cat back!"

Uh, no, YOU have to get that cat back.  There was nothing in the MLS showing instructions about any pets.  It is not my responsibility.

The LA agreed to drive over... by the time she arrived, I had coaxed kitty back into the house.

Since that event, I am hesitant to show any house that has instructions stating "Don't let the cat (or dog) out!"

We had a deal once in which the 4 barn cats were sold as personal property to the buyer. Worked great for all parties, especially the cats!

Listed a home once where the owner had a pit bull that he agreed to remove during showings. His idea of securing the dog was locking him on the second bathroom and put a sign on the door that said a beer could view that bathroom once he had an acceptable contract. It was a short listing since I cancelled it after the first showing. Post cancellation it went into foreclosure.

I have never had a pet problem re: a client seller or  buyer.

I once showed a house where the instructions included that the cat would e under the bed in the primary bedroom and would not move so don't worry about it.

The chances of me listing a horse property are very small.

I remember an occasion when I was told a property was vacant and arrived to be "greeted" by a beware sign as well as a barking dog at the front door.  A voicemail message to the listing agent soon followed.

It is typically frowned upon, MLS photos are supposed to be void of any animals.  It may not be possible all the time, but it used to be (and likely still is) a violation if there are animals in the photos.  People in the photo is a definite violation!

Once during a showing a child was bitten by a cat. The mom should not have allowed the child to touch the kitty.

Yes, yes and yes. Some pets do well in the house or in their crate.

I once thought I let a cat out by mistake. Turned out to be a stray that we caught and put in by mistake. Fortunately, it wasn't a big deal.

I haven't listed a horse farm where horses stay or dog kennel but I have had chickens stay with the property.
