CapCut is Chinese and the same owner owns TikTok (ByteDance) and last year a lawsuit was filed in IL:
The lawsuit notes that in May 2023 former ByteDance official Yintao Yu publicly stated that the Chinese government could access data and monitor U.S. operations from its Beijing headquarters, giving the company strategic insight into how to maintain “core communist values.” The plaintiffs add that the Chinese Communist Party uses a “backdoor channel code” to access U.S. and other non-Chinese citizens’ data, citing Yu.

So if you can find a similar product that is AMERICAN, that may be a good thing.

Everything at one time or another "end of life" Bob "RealMan" Timm and is no longer supported in general and will not work on older operating systems. 

One recent example is Adobe Pro which I purchased over 10 years ago still works well for what I use it for, yet Adobe no longer supports it. To use the new bells and whistles Adobe Pro offers, I had to subscribe to their monthly service plan.  

After all of that blah blah blah, I do not have any recommendations for older computers.  

I went to a class this week to use this app, but now reading what Candice wrote, better to use Canva's video platform.

Bob I just read Candice A. Donofrio answer and I would highly suggest you take it to heart.  Buy American.  I wish I knew of one but I"m king of out of that loop.  I'll ask around for you.  Good luck!

Canva updated their program a month or so ago. Have you tried using it to edit videos? I haven't but I also have used Capcut. I did open it but haven't used it yet.

Those older computers come with a very good video editing program already.

I have not explored using video and video editing. It is a benefit of retirement and need. I don't have a need but am interested in what others think in case I ever want to jump in.

Good luck with your search. It may be time for you to upgrade.

Might want to investigate Camtasia. It is easy to use.
