Hi Fred... never gave this any thought. Technically, wood is a noun and wooden is an adjective. So to be totally correct it probably should be described as wooden. But it's not a word we see a lot of... so I probably would continue calling it a wood deck. So far the grammar police have not arrested me for doing so.

If it is a deck made of wood, I think calling it either wood or wooden would be acceptable.

I don't think I ever used either... just say it has a deck, porch or dock.

I would put - 8 x 8 deck to enjoy company and/or family and watch the sunset!    If it Trex, I put that, but thinking I have never put wood or wooden as a description.

Well. You could describe it by stating the type of material that was used to build the deck if you know what it is. If not, it's probably okay to use wooden.

I don't think wood or wooden is really the factor that will make someone purchase that home. I'd describe the lifestyle that deck will support - want to sit outside and watch the stars? want to enjoy delicious BBQs while overlooking your back yard? Want room for your hottub? etc etc...

A wooden or wood deck wouldn't grab my attention - the size of it, possible uses, placement - those would get my attention.

Without closer inspection I'd have to say this is a wooden deck, Don't expect swapping their use is always a safe bet but generally most people will accept either as an apt description. Wood will always be wood while wooden, well, it's going to be darn close. NOT necessarily interchangeable.

After following Kathleen's link and reading the explanation, I think I will stick with, "The house features a beautiful, rustic deck."  😎

Depends. Picture tells the story. If it were a specialized wood like Brazilian Cherry, etc, I would say that to describe it.

Great question!  I would focus on what the deck brings to your world (place to relax, entertain, etc) in my description unless the building material was really show-stopping.

I thought it was just the outdoor living room... made of native cedar flooring, pressure treated support posts and offering southern exposure for hot and cold drinks, cook outs. The wood deck is way way more than just a wood deck. Not just a walkway.

I would use wood and the listings in my area seem to do the same. But most seem to just say "deck" unless it's Trex or some other material.

Wood or Wooden are good. However, I do see products at Home Depot like Wood Deck Sealer, Wood Deck Paint, Wood Deck Spindles, so that may be the way to go. I do see more "wood like" products. How about those ceramic floor tiles that are made to look like wood planks...go figure. 😀

I vote for "wood" Fred Griffin Florida Real Estate . HOWEVER now you have me wondering if this is a trick question as the steps may be "wood-like" made out of that compost material. 🤣

Home is where the hearth is.

I don't typically specify the deck's building materials, unless they're uncommon or notable. (ie: Trex, or metal).

Wood is a very common material for decks in my area, so if you simply said "spacious deck connects to kitchen and family room." that would be adequate.

Wood deck is what they are commonly called.  I think also in the past with hard limits on characters it wasn't worth spending the extra letters on the "en"

This isn't something I tend to come across. Is there a premium for a wood deck vs. composite? I would only add the detail in the description if it's not obvious and/or it adds a significant premium (by $ or demand) over composite.  I am ignoring any other decking material since the picture makes it look like wood.
