I think AR Support should add a posting requirement that if you are going to state a statistic, you have to cite the source.

I'm pretty sure that 86.35% of AR users would appreciate this.

Interesting stats and I have heard them all during my career.  The best time for them to sell is when they are ready to sell.

We relocated to be closer to our son. And, the most favorite thing about our place is the size of the balconies. Living in downtown town Chicago balconies, if you are lucky enough to have one, are at best small.

At 1st I thought you were asking more along the lines of why do I sell for a living and that is easy, I am better at talking then physical labor.

To answer your question correctly my answer would be because my family lives there.

Q/A is for questions that DO NOT have an answer YET. LOL

Q: Why are they selling?
A: They'd rather have the money than the property.

People move first off for Location, second is upsizing, third is downsizing, fourth is due to change in economic changes, fourth is schools, fifth is inheritance and then needing cash.

Good, relevant data presented thank you. In regard to my home, the location plays a big part. Close to everything but secluded within minutes allows me to appreciate Nature.

Favorite thing-- I live on a golf course, so there are a lot of green areas of open space around me.  A true visual easement that I don't have to water, fertilize or mow.

NYC has very different demographics. About 2/3 rd's of households are renters here.

I bought in the earlier stages of a gentrifying neighborhood- and seen quite a bit of appreciation and saved a bundle on taxes. Thanks to a hefty tax abatement- my property taxes for the 1st 20 years of ownership are just $3.50/month (not a typo) for an oversized 1 bed, 1.5 bath duplex apartment (it's actually about 35% larger than the 2 bed, 2 baths apartments in my building and I converted the half bath to a full bath). W/D in unit in NYC is a luxury feature- and I am spoiled by mine. All of this and I came within a few minute walk of 5 different subway lines.

Last census data showed 13% rental in my county.  But I think there are less renters in rural areas.
