For real work, desktop all the way.
For the amount of work I do on the computer, everything has to be perfect - chair height, mouse position, screen position, keyboard, etc.
Laptop only for trips or away from office.

Desktop. But some situations on the road require a laptop.

I always prefer my desktop Will Hamm BUT that being said I use my laptop about 30% of the time.

THAT is my biggest issue with laptops . . . I need to be comfortable which means a full size keyboard -- and when I travel, I take my keyboard to use with my laptop. 

I have 2 big screen all in one machines in my office, and my laptop is packed in a suitcase from the last trip I took (last year!) LOL

I have no real preference, but that would depend on where I'm at. In my vehicle I prefer my Surface tablet with keyboard. At my house I use both my desktop which I use as my server and my laptop.

FYI - you could always just purchase a USB or Bluetooth Keyboard to use with your laptop!!!

Laptop but Will Hamm you can use an external keyboard for you laptop if you want. 

I have both. However, when I was working from my laptop I always use an external keyboard and mouse ... much more efficient. 

Recently I converted to a desktop with a large monitor. 

I prefer my desktop!  I use the laptop when away from the office ...

I use a laptop. Not far from my desk, my wife uses a deck top computer. My laptop can go wherever I go and that is important.

I did not know they still made desktops, if that answered your question.

Only Mac Pro laptops for a decade or more. 

I find the keyboards pretty much the same on desktops and my present laptop. Now iPads are a different story, I can't type on those; need the keyboard attachment. 

I use a laptop when traveling but a desktop at the home office and the downtown location.

I have an ASUS 2-in-1 convertible laptop, which I connect to a couple of monitors on my desk. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse which I use also. So three screens (including the laptop) plus a full-sized keyboard. Works great. When I leave the home office, I pack up the Asus and take my office with me (including a mouse).

I was a steadfast desk topper for years and why not? Then, I gave the laptop a "look see" and took the plunge Will Hamm . There is no going back

I use a mac laptop and I'm getting an ipad. I haven't had a desktop for years. I do have a large monitor I plug into my map when I'm at my desk.

I prefer my desktop.

I have used a laptop for years and never was a good typist. And, still am not!

Laptop with a wireless mouse. I haven't had a desktop in years!

I work on an all-in-one with a big monitor on my desk at home and use a little laptop when I'm away from my office.

We switched from desktops to laptops in 2008 when we moved from a huge office building to a smaller office bldg after my staff let me know that they would prefer to spend more time working remotely.

My last couple of computers have been laptops.  They sit off to the side and are connected to external keyboards, mice and multiple monitors.  Right now I have active rain up on one screen and on my other I'm remoting into another laptop in another part of the house and running programs on it.

I have a desktop with two screens and LOVE it.  My laptop goes on trips with me, but still does a great job.

I have been using only a Laptop for well over two decades.  A desktop is like using a horse and buggy instead of a car.

For years I used a desktop at home and a laptop otherwise. When the desktop needed replaced, I bought a second laptop and set it up like a desktop with a full size keyboard, wireless mouse and 24" monitor. The laptop is just used as the computer and it works great, you would never know you were not working on a desktop.

At one time I had a docking station for the desktop laptop so it was easy to disconnect if I needed to take the laptop with me but haven't used the docking station is years.

I prefer laptop, but either is fine and I have both at home and the office.

Use a laptop and have for years.

You just have to get used to the 'flatness' of the laptop. I'm just as fast on either one. I use a mouse on my laptop - faster.
