I think you might have something there Jim. It would be nice to receive a card at Thanksgiving. I'm sure it would be more memorable than Christmas.

Thanksgiving cards are a good idea if you include a hand written personal message.

A long time ago, I worked for a charity that sent out Thanksgiving cards to the donors, volunteers, etc.  I thought it was nicer and more appropriate than a Christmas card.

Send me a turkey for Thanksgiving, Jim.  That will really stand out!

To your question, yes, choose some other holiday.  Christmas cards get buried in the pile.

It has been said that we should be sending cards for just about every occasion throughout the year but I have always only sent out calendars at the end of the year, usually right after Thanksgiving.

I send out Christmas cards after Thanksgiving. I give out pies for Thanksgiving. Once October and Halloween hit it seems people are in full holiday mode. They're shopping, getting tons of magazines in the mail, etc. A decade or so ago you might have been able to sneak a card in without all the other junk mail but now it is difficult to do that. Much success to you!

Yes to your thinking however the idea of a Holiday where you give thanks while pleasurable makes one realize to give thanks daily and not just once a year. Even the idea of "pilgrims" is becoming distant...

I used to send both but now only send e-cards to previous clients and I get MANY thank you's in return because I use the animated ones from Jacquie Lawson.

Enjoy your day!

For many years, I have done both.

The past few years, I sent Happy New Year cards.  I am doing the same this year. I always include a little something and a handwritten personal note. All envelopes are hand addressed as well.

I've already started the process. The goal is to complete 10 cards per day.

Gratitude sent on a gratitude focused holiday is always a good idea; Buffini & Company has had us doing unique things like that for decades: Thanksgiving, New Years, Veteran's Day, etc.

Not a fan. I did think that a New Years card that Ron and Alexandra Seigel mentioned was different. I can't remember ever getting one.

my former broker did that.  He also believed that it didn't cross any boundries concerning religion to send a Thanksgiving card.

I agree Thanksgiving cards stand out more and we usually send them out.  Last year was tough to send out Christmas Cards as several relatives of clients had died of covid and it was a tough time - so we went a different direction and sent flowers to some folks which was more appropiate.

I toyed with the idea, even designed my own card, but never actually sent any. In many ways a Thanksgiving card might be more appropriate, first to show gratitude and also to avoid missing or offending some groups that don't celebrate Christmas.

I do in addition to the Holiday cards. If I had to choose just one to send out, it would be Thanksgiving. The gratitude message means so much and is getting the message across to the clients that we are appreciative of their business and referrals.

I sent out both Christmas/Holiday Cards and Thanksgiving Cards for around the first twenty years of my career.  My thought was this would create a double awareness within thirty days and it would reinforce my caring and thus make more that  a double impact.  It is great to reach out but there is now better tool than the telephone at any point in the year.  Save your money.
