My question is "why is this a 'surprise' to anyone?".  

I'm hoping we don't get a sudden cold snap as we've been waiting 3 weeks already for a tiny part for our furnace!  No heat in a Canadian winter would not be desirable :(

We are having issues getting paint.  I am also helping a client with windows.  They have a long wait time.

We are seeing alot of backorders -- for 2-3 months. I had a client have to wait over 3 months for some windows she had on order. This really is no surprise ... we are going to see alot more of this in the next few months. We will all have to exercise patience.

Windows are on back order, as well as, high end appliances. My husband and I waited quite a few months for a love seat...

This is the talk around town, getting parts in a reasonable time frame. Our neighbor waited about 3 months for something for his refrigerator. So far we've been getting whatever we need.

We were having lunch with a commercial electrician and he was talking about several contracts with the City for solar generators, backlogged for MONTHS! So here we go with the shenanigans!

That is very interesting, seems like there have been major delays with so many things these days.

We aren't personally, however my stepson is a plumber and having trouble getting all sorts of parts big shortage on resin. Other friends are having trouble getting appliances.

Been dealing with those issues for a LONG time now.  Last remodel we had to delay the listing by 2-3 weeks because the counter tops were on a boat.

I heard about lumber coming down but there are more problems getting refrigerators & other stuff. Parts are no longer stocked or long gone.

We have a lot of new building going on in my area, and these issues have been impacting building for the last year or so.

It would be nice to see some of those high prices at the lumber yard making it to the people who are selling the trees.

Yup, my son is trying to have a house built and getting supplies is painstaking

I visited a new development with my client last Sunday. One finished model and fifteen under construction.

ALL counter tops, flooring, paint colors, fixtures with the exception of carpet have already been picked by the builder. Appliances have been pre-selected, also, with the exception of refrigerator and washer/dryer, which are not being offered as options, since the builder could not get those items in what was thought to be a reasonable time. In other words...a buyer must source those appliances and may be faced with taking occupancy of a home without them.

Supply & demand, greed and high prices abound longer then they should

Not sure about the lumber, but remodeling my master bath, and my shower enclosure is taking FOREVER to get.

Yes, we're still hearing about shortage. We haven't personally had any issues but I have friends and clients who have.

Things that involve anything the gets here on a boat are in short supply.
Things with the red, white and blue banner "Proudly Assembled in America" are in short supply.
My hope is that USA citizens come to the realization that the Board of Directors pledged to create maximun profit for stock holders have a Come to Jesus meeting. This is the price paid for "Save Money. Live Better."
I have been a proponet of and engaged in Local Made and Sourced. Even in that environment consumables from paints, fasteners and cutting devices seem to end up on a boat somewhere.  Making wood items from those 40, 50, 60 year old fences have been received well. But it all that 'middelstuff' that is now creating a problem based on the supply chain.
I not sure there is any tangible goods category not affected.
My reversing valvue for my HVAC compressor has been 'on it's way for over a month. Fortuneately, in Florida, a plan B for heat is not so hard to come by and won't be actually needed for another 6 weeks.

It appears that shortages will continue for some time.

Where is Newsom?  

I am seeing more trucks on the highways.  So many items are out of stock or limited supply.

I'm waiting for new construction parts on a house that was supposed to close in July.  Very frustrating for my buyers.

There were LOTS of trucks on the highway during my recent road trip. Not sure what they're hauling. 

Most items are available here, but some need to be ordered but waits aren't too long. but many furniture stores are saying there will be a 6+ month wait if you order new couch and chairs.

What's an HVAC? 

Just kidding - but serioulsy, haven't had one in over 40 years.
