Nothing better than home grown!  With these NAFTA agreements, produce is picked far too soon and arrives in our homes tasteless.  In metro Fort Lauderdale there is a first city, Dania Beach, that was formerly known as the tomato capital of the world.  Now all the farms are gone..tragic.  

Agreed.  They do taste much better.

We had a vegetable garden for many years.  1000 times better than the produce you get at the supermarket!

Yes I love our local farmer's markets! You can REALLY tell the difference.  Plus it helps the locals!

That is why we garden. We can control what goes into our food and when it is picked.

Locally grown/sourced fruits and vegatables  will always have special appeal. It is also good to enjoy the "fruits" of the local bakery.

I think I may head over to my favorite doughnut shop this morning.

Yes, farm fresh is very different! I think you can even taste the extra "love" that's in those products.

Absolutely the BEST, Richie.  I rarely eat baked goods of any kind. No doubt home-baked goods are superior in so many ways.

My favorite. I have a small garden and like to frequent the local farmers market. It is sad in fall when they all close around here

There is a reason 'processed' greens became so popular.
That reason is so many lost the concept of what the most important tool in the kitchen is.
With this tool the prep-work of garden fresh produce is a breeze and actually enjoyable in addition to more nutricious.

Be all you can be and make sure your kitchen is equiped with the most important tool...a sharp knife.
Even the onions will produce fewer tears.
A few strikes every day it is used and you can slice soft tomatoes as thin as your heart desires.

We have a fabulous Harbor Marketplace here in Kenosha that has fresh produce .... and in addition we have space for a nice garden. This year the harvest was not as good as prior years, but tasty none-the-less. For our eggs, we have friends who have chickens and we pick up on an as-needed basis -- my favorite are the colored eggs.  All organic of course.

Yes big difference and way better by a long shot.  Been cooking this way for years.

I agree Richie, they sure are more flavorful.  Try to shop at the Farmers Markets, but they are only open in the Summer months.

Farm to table... fresh and local. Nothing compares.

yes I agree. Take tomatoes as an example, I do not eat them unless somone I know has grown them. So 6-8 months of the year I won't have anything to do with them.

Oh my gosh, home grown foods are amazing. Buy a carrot from the grocery store and then eat one that was grown in someone's garden. The taste is miles apart. Or eat freshly baked bread that was made from scratch (flour, yeast, etc) in your kitchen to bread bought at the grocers. YUMMO.

That is the best, my "go-to" fare! This past summer it was even from my own garden some of the time.

We live in downtown Chicago and visit the Farmers Market, but mostly for baked goods. There is one a bit farther north that has fresh produce. Get there when we can. We think it tastes better.

I grew up on a farm with farm fresh everything, leaving the farm was a change, but I adapted.

I misssed that whole milk with the layer of cream on top the most, however I gradually adapted to store bought whole milk, then to 2percent, then to 1 percent, then to skim, and now I just drink water.

You are now seeing how Plastic some of our food is ! It fills ( and grows) the belly , but is bankrupt Nutruitionally !!!!

Yes you can. I love buying from the farmer's market and also going to farm to table restaurants. We have some restaurants here where the chef has their own farm and that is how they make their menu. There are others who source their ingredients from local farmers. My friends & I drove a couple hours to have dinner at Chef Vivian Howard's restaurant Chef & The Farmer. It was delicious.
