FYI - That feature is a free-include on every mac.

When I open a pdf file I simply go to file ... save as ... choose image ... then select tiff, jpg, png, etc. 

I do have adobe professional (which is not free nor cheap).

Not free, but our Team uses Kofax Power PDF. It porvides the ability to same a PDF as a jpg and so much more.

We are able to take a multi-page pdf and rearrange, add or delete pages.
