Sybil Campbell I VERY STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you rent a truck from Penske Truck Rental (FAR better than anything U-Haul has - and FAR less expensive) and hiring a crew to load and unload.

I've moved back and forth to Phoenix, Arizona 4 times, and it was a great experience and with GREAT savings. No BS from terrible moving companies.

Let me know if you find a moving company who will guarentee their actual bill will be within 15% of the estimate.
I suggest hiring a crew from "2 Men & a Truck' to pack and stack your POD and let U-haul truck itto VA. Repeat process in VA or find out how many friends you have in Wlliamsburg.

At all costs avoid "All my Sons" unless you want to have junk when you arrive in Virginia. If you call them you should also consider "Remove my Junk" and start over. Same result at less cost.

Moving can be expensive, and there is so much uncertainty with moving companies.

After helping several friends move long distances my advice is to sell or give away everything that does not have extreme sentimental value, rent a small truck for the rest and buy new furniture when you arrive at your new location.

You can afford a lot of new furniture for the price of moving it across country.

I had a Buyer moving from Vero Beach, Fl to Md and recommended he speak with Moyer & Sons. They do many Government moves and they had a truck coming back north and accommodated the move.
