The idea is right but a household unit would likely approach several thousand dollars to be even remotely effective plus the time element would be more than 30 seconds several tens of times over. That's a lot of handwashing Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041

You could use a fancy light to try to zap these bugs, or you could just wipe things down with sanitizer, and wash your hands after handling the deliveries.

we're just washing stuff, but we do have that technology in the form of phone soap, but it's for small things.  Credit cards, phones, wallets etc.

The Wuhan/CCP Coronavirus will supposedly only live for three days.  For mail, I quarantine it in the garage.  For amazon packages, I am careful to only touch the insides of the box.  The content should have been in there for 3 days and should be fine.  I also use surgical grade hand sanitizer and/or wash my hands w/anti-bacterial soap.

I wear gloves to open packages and sanitize the contents.  Not sure about zapping.  Fun to think about.  If only it were that easy.

Maybe a couple hours of sunlight followed by a good wipedown with 90%+ alcohol will do the trick.

I have not heard if UV would work. I did read that it would stay longer on cardboard vs. other things. I think that everyday it changes.

You are touching packages, products on shelves, opening mail, etc.

I'm washing my hands a lot, not worrying about what I touch as much as washing immediately after I touch it-or go crazy in futile avoidance.

I would worry about the person delivering the product rather than the product.  This is subject to change but what isn't at this time?

My trick - don a pair of gloves, throw what goes into the freezer, in the freezer; wash the produce and wipe down everything else. Then wash my hands - well!

I'm only using UV for my smaller items (in my Phone Soap) and I'm not even sure what the wavelength is but, I did get a clean Petri dish after testing it!! (no kidding)
