Those do tend to bring the most hits - perhaps not the buyers & sellers you're looking for but, it did used to boost your Google presence here. It definitely boosts it on your websites.

I do think it's worth it Tony Lewis just for one selves awareness. I always hate hearing people say "there is nothing to do in this town" and keeping in touch with local events is a great way combat that negative comment and engage in some good conversation.

I've written blogs about Christmas lights, pumpkin patches, etc.  Those tend to not get any traction for 1-2 years.  I used to have local events displayed on my site and my analytics told me that it was a never visited pages, so I removed them.

I do put some hand picked events in my monthly newsletter, as well as a "famous dates in history."  More for the interest I have in that, than anything else.  It is not anything that has EVER gotten me views, comments/interaction, referrals or business.

Continue what works for you.

Results vary as they should....After all, there is no exact formula

"Worthwhile" may need to be defined for each person.  I stopped because I didn't see the value for me.  

Worthwhile must be accompanied with the INTENDED or EXPECTED outcome.

The events page was the most visited page of my website. Every Thursday locals and snowbirds were planning their weekend. This allowed me an portal of access that would never have occurred otherwise. Here in TAMPA BAY Florida, I have little access to those visiting from Philadelphia. But they FOUND me.

Now, here is the catch. many web sites hire a developer who installs a plug-in that scrapes events from other websites. So, most websites have the same old stuff. An effective 'events' page is a lot of work. Before putting in the work, understand ALL the ways benefit can be derived. I will suggest, the GREATEST benefit is in collaborations.

Local events posts still get the most hits for me.
