Last time I got involved in this they all turned on me calling realtors thieves & a bunch of other things. I make 1 statement & then leave the building.

Schools do impact values. More people want to live in an area with higher ratings. Don't know who can't see that? It's like every other valuable item.

I do not pay a lot of attention to Facebook. Just not an important thing in my life.  As for schools and property values, definitely a participant.

It is an erroneous statement that schools do not impact home values. When someone makes a statement like that you're not going to change their minds, even for hard evidence.

When it comes to most Facebook groups, my involvement is primarily as a bystander.  Watching the chips going askew is just a part of the information gathering process while taking a break from real world issues.

In America we are fortunate in that we can have these discussions, sometimes called fights about local issues.  I get involved if I feel strongly about the issue.  We do need to remember that everyone will not agree with the outcome but at least we have voiced our opinion.

Maybe. It depends on what group it is (there are some I wouldn't comment on with a "ten foot pole" as my dad used to say). I might provide the average price point in school district a versus school district b and just leave the numbers there. I might just ignore it.

Many topics being discussed in fb groups should just be ignored. ( Politics, religion, schools, sex related, legal and tax stuff, race, etc). Some school districts are more desirable than others, and some affect prices and some don't. It's constantly changing. Some buyers only wanted to be in Langley school district in Northern VA 10+ years ago, but now other school disticts have become desirable.

Grab the popcorn. I've never had to deal with a "bad" school district. Oddly enough the district most often mentioned as one they want to avoid is the one I think is the best in Minot. It's the oldest school in town and not very attractive but in the time I've lived in the district the Principal has won State awards and two teachers quickly come to mind as State Educators of the year and even receiving National honors. Not that it has anything to do with education but one teacher is currently Miss North Dakota. My children went to this school and every teacher they had was very loving and wonderful instructors. Again, this is the school newcomers to Minot think they should avoid .

I would state the VALUE of the properties determine the quality of the schools. Chicken or the egg? The volume of tax dollars to be wasted will determine the size if the gymnasium and quality of the football team.

The education of children remains the responsibility of PARENTS. After all, public education has a equivalent public image as the real estate agent. It is well earned.

In those places where charter or choice are in place, parents are voting with their action. Given a reasonable alternative no reasonable parent would subject their children to the perversion of the public education system. Such a statement will guarantee the unreasonable parent will mount the soapbox.

No need to hang around and hear the voices in the echo chamber. Present an reasonable argument and those of sound mind will hear.

This is why I avoid most social media.  People will ignore facts for their own beliefs and not listen to reason.  I have enough fun in my daily life, no sense jumping into it on my off hours.  I'd rather just log into World of Warcraft and raid.

well in my market they would be absolutely correct in saying that.  We have county schools and not any districts within the county.  Just one.  And while different counties in the area have different scores it really doesn't have an impact on a lake house.  80% are second homes so buyers don't care about schools anyway.

On Facebook in not a place to have an intelligent, civil, enlightening discussion.

I posted a remark on a post of "friend" (an acquaintance who is a Realtor) a couple of years ago. I was told in the posting string by someone who does not know me and whom I do not know that I should crawl back under from which I came. So much for civil discussion!

ARMS,

I am not a Fan of FB.  Montecito which is one of the little towns here population 10,000.  Their school system on one side is highly touted, and it does rate the value of the home over $100,000+.  A
