It is not for me.  In fact, I am not a fan of most of social media - AR is the platform I spend most of my time on and even that is fading fast.

Just like anything else it's how you approach it Joseph Doohan . If you go at it half-assed it isn't going to work. If you put your heart into it like the top few pages of the leaderboard it will bring you success.

Active Rain is a two way street. It's made me more successful NOT because of all the blathering I do but all the knowledge I pick up from others blathering away .

Social media is A strategy.

Agents with business older than 6 years derive MOST of their business from past client referrals.

New agents who traditionally have more time than money will spend their time to establish a business via SM. The problem is new agents have no fabric, no experience, nothing to talk about so they buy content from others and SM becomes a lukewarm cauldron a tasteless pablum.

Then there are those in-between agents, the survivors who have stumbled upon a few things that work and searching for their vision. These are the ones who buy into systems and start buying the shiny things and getting suckered into MLM hoopla. These agents can use SM in an extremely effective manner. They often become derailed in the delusion of their self-importance or they mature their business into the referral machine that assures their economic durability.

Social Media is A option the the be all- do all.

Depends on your demographic!
But in general . . . yes
It also depends on how you work it.

If you do it wrong, LOL, consumers WILL let you know!

There's this chick who has been HEAVY promoting her 'I'm a man whisperer, you can get him to marry you, it's a secret, I'll show you how' and I have hidden her ad at least 10 times past 2 days

I about peed my pants when men, elderly women and lesbians were like 'do you not know your audience, honey?'

I love social media for promoting our business & our listings & yes, we have seen a ROI from it- a luxury townhouse referral recently & lots of inquiries & also clients that have come from of our efforts to be active on Social Media venues.

I use it but too many now are inundating with useless information and have heard that agents are being blocked.

Yes, it can be, and social media isn't just limited to facebook. Make sure to seperate your personal profile from your fb business page or group. Don't overpromote your business on you personal page. Once in a while probably won't upset your friend list, but if every post is about real estate, your friend list will shrink.

Anything I do consistently in marketing my business is important, because it creates results. Social media has been a small source of my sales, as recently as my first closing of 2020 in January. I'm on S.M. daily.
