#1) How/Where do I find a decent RE school?

Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 I disagree with your initial statement. I do not believe students should be assigned to ask questions in this or any other form. If a student has a legitimate question that they really want to know the answer to that is fine BUT to be told to ask a question just to ask a question seriously makes me want to smack that worthless instructor silly (not the student, they are being ordered to ask these same stupid questions over and over).

In fact, if the instructor was truly concerned about the students education instead of their big fat pocket book, he would reward them for original questions and penalize them if they ask a question that has been asked in the last 3 months.

I feel it is best for newbies to be asking their broker.  I do not believe students who have paid a school to teach them are being taught by sending the students to this community to ask questions.

Either way, responding with maturity - what's that mean?

How about responding in kindness ... I wish you all the best!

Nope, don't want to play. Each of those Q's could be a blog post.

I'm tired of them asking the same Q's ... I'm not a teacher in the 2nd grade where I have to be patient with the same questions over & over.

I have no interest in feeding questions to real estate students. Virtually nothing in the forum is something that they will encounter in a state test to get a license. And if I wanted to teach pre-licensing classes, I'd get certified to do so and would probably do a whole lot better than what these students in Utah are getting.

Plus what Bob "RealMan" Timm and Lyn Sims said.

How do I craft a business plan?

How do I craft a time-management plan?

The sins of the father should not be visited upon the children. I keep in mind that

a. these kids come to us in good faith, not knowing what has preceded them, and

b. one of the kids may someday be in a position to do or refer business to us.

Give me the redundant kids Qs over the shameless, vacuous point-hoes any day.

If 'many someones' (I remember Lenn on RealTalk - YEARS BEFORE AR - sending me a brilliant email about what to include in a buyer's book, and a list of 'red flags' indicating an unworthy prospect) had not generously guided me, it would have taken me A LOT LONGER to get into a groove.

Pay it forward and shine your aura . . . I'm not always in the mood, but I can choose to skip over like everyone else can.

I refrain from answering most questions from real estate students because they have to do with licensing law and agency. Consequently, they receive many answers that may or may not be correct because the correct answers differ from state to state.

LOVE THIS IDEA - Now i have a couple of things to say, first is they do not know any better, that is why they ask the questions they do. I do not think anyone should be answering them sarcastingly. They are scaring them off AR before they even begin. Lastly, questions and posts like this with what students should be asking are a great idea.

I think the UT instructor needs to read this question, Annette. This forum is a primo spot for learning BUT, the students need to come up with their OWN questions, no matter how insignificant they feel the question is. That leads to dialog.

Currently, the way it is, the dialog is not friendly and really, who wants to continue to participate in a forum AFTER school when the vast majority of the participants were incredibly rude to them?

Agent Professor Utah needs to stop sending their students here.  Could you imagine if they asked these questions on Reddit.com/r/realestate?  They'd be torn to shreds.

If they have questions about the industry, that's one thing.  But these need to be honest to God actual questions of THEIRS.  They should not be the same questions that every other student has asked over the years.  It doesn't teach them anything.  It's like a 2 year old asking "if we're there yet", it gets old real quick.

I think it's great that as part of their instruction they are made aware of resources such as AR. And I'm actually good with having an assignment to stick one's toe in the water. However, from what little engagement I've had with the students from Utah they seem to have the idea that they "have" to post a question from a list of questions provided to them by the instructor. That aspect is interesting to me - not that they have an assignment to engage but they are suppose to choose from a list. It is possible that the student I interacted with just "said" that and the list is actually provided as "a guide" or possible questions if they are "nervous" and can't think of anything. But if the instructor is "requiring" that the students limit their questions to his/her prepared list that's curious to me. I wonder how much class time if any is spent going over answers or comparing our answers to what Utah's course materials say.

I think these students are told to ask questions too early in the game, when they don't really know what to ask, so they go for the obvious and it irritates us because those questions could be looked up easily (e.g. what are the loyalties?). Questions should come later when they learn more about the practice of real estate and ask us for our real life experiences and how we handled them. The instructor should present case studies and that would be a way to engage experienced agents, not with quesions that you could google.
