I would suggest trying ozone treatment. However, it is possible that the smell still comes from the carpet. When it was professionally cleaned, was it pet treated as well?

Sounds like the smell has gotten "into" the surroundings. If the obvious, cleaning & airing it out, doesn't work I would start thinking about priming & painting & removing anything porous that is in there. You'll be smelling like fresh baked Oatmeal Cookies in no time!

You might need to replace carpeting... and make sure that the subfloor has not been damage. Ozone treatment can help if you're certain it's not in the carpet.

Remove the carpet work on subfloor contaminated area. Clean with hot water. Dry aprinke baking powder and lemon cleaner. The dog smell was there, is still detectable and will be smelled in a hot day with windows closed. People have demand to replace the laminate floor due to dog urine.

Do you have COIT in your area? They are so affordable and do an amazing job, Mike.
If it's just dog odor and not dog urine odor, you may be able just to use an ionizer. But, for your time, COIT would be worth it either way!

Dog smell or urine smell Mike Frazier , BIG difference! If it's urine its under the carpet and the carpet padding, and maybe even the subfloor will need to be replaced to truly get rid of the smell. If it's dog smell then a through washing of the walls is in order. I have purchased several products that are either stand alone or work with carpet cleaners to get rid of pet smells (which they do) but nothing gets rid of urine without removing the items mentioned above.

Under the carpet and under the laminate, you may need to remove both of these. Cleaning the carpet does nothing when the urine is below the carpet.

You have some great suggestions here. I would remove the carpets and the pad - treat the subfloor and isolate other sources where the smell may be coming from, like window coverings, etc. and remove them.

Everything the dog sits on needs to be washed or cleaned. Actually, the biggest help is that the dog needs a bath once a week!
Washing everything should be a big help. There are ozone machines you can borrow from other agents or rent.

There are two sources of 'dog smell' that you must be aware.
Source 1: Various excrements. Cleaning and sanitizing everything within the 'doggie hike' zone (it could involve replacement if saturation and drying has occurred) should eleminate the excrement smell.
Source 2: Parafin, a natural product of dog fur that will be rubbed onto any surface a dog has access. Becuase this is a waxy water repelling substance, more elbow effort may be required. But the zone to clean is the lower half of the room(s) and there is no SATURATION consideration. This can air out, but I suggest a wipe down and encapsulating with a good paint job.
Doggie smell is one of the easiest to resolve.
The good news is the smell is NOT cat or nicotine.

Unfortunately the urine goes through the carpet onto the sub floor. In most cases the carpet is removed and a blocker is done to the sub floors.
The walls may have to have a blocker as well since a dog may hike and spray.
I have seen this personally in many foreclosures and rent property. It may be in the duct work and vents. I have seen vents rusted from this and also the trunk line if it is metal.

The urine can get through the carpet, into the pad and into the floor. You may need to pull it. If there is urine in the laminate, it can get under that too. Just as well walls and ceilings may need to be painted

Just had this problem on a listing this summer. Professionals came and cleaned the carpet twice. Two different companies. Homeowner and her friend tried doing it themselves twice with two different machines. Finally broke down and replaced all of the carpet and it sold in under a week. The old carpet wasn’t physically worn out, but the smell was down into the padding and floor. New carpet was installed over freshly chemically cleaned cement. Carpet company took payment at closing.
I could still smell the pet odor but not nearly so bad. Walls needed to be painted and furniture needed to be replaced for it to be fixed.
That pet odor cost the seller about $25,000 in sale price as well. Was very frustrating and hard to tell someone their house stinks. Good luck.
