There is no need for a mobile version.  What you need is image compression and resizing the main image.

Your site has a 7.6 second load time and over 4.6mb of data transmitted, which even for a desktop is horrible!  I know, I had a 9 second one with almost as much data transmitted.  Now I'm at 1.3 seconds with 647k of data transmitted.

Here is a tool that will be your best friend, GTMetrix.  Access the report for your site here.  It contains links to optimized versions of your images and actionable steps to improve your site.

The first thing you should do is download those optimized images, upload them to your site and then use them instead of the ones you're using now.

Second, look at "Serving scaled images" and use the sizes the recommend.  You'll need to go into your media library, edit the photos and change the scale and save the new version.  Make sure your site loads the new version.

Those two things should give you a HUGE bang for your buck!  Make those changes, go onto GTMetrix.com and put your URL in and hit test.  You should see some major improvements.

I don't know what kind of feedback you are seeking but I remember this topic being discussed a long time ago.  Or so it seems.  Technology changes in an instant.

And, yes, everyone uses their phones and your numbers are not a surprise to me.

Using high quality photos is great but, then you need to compress them, either before uploading them to your site or with a plug-in on your WP site that does that.

I've seen wannabe web designers who think those high resolution photos are a must - they evidently don't understand 2019's users! Your users want to see the pics and they want to see them now - they do not want to wait, nor will they. You can have tons of pageviews but, the question is - is your phone ringing?

I remember a few years ago when Google was forcing everyone, even AR, to make their sites mobile ready or they would downgrade us in the search engines.

There's your first major issue.
Just on those images alone you have over 2Mb that have to be downloaded.

I would think the simple solution would be to upload much smaller pictures John Mosier but then you may make the desktop users strain their eyes.

I can answer your basic question (does everyone use smartphones), and the answer is a resounding "yes".  In fact your own analytics tell you that 85% of your site visitors are using smartphones... so you already know the answer.

Use smaller photographs. Nobody needs full screen views.

Your website MUST be able to 'dynamicly' identify the devise gaining access and adjust/direct/select accordingly.  Without demanding this feature or changing providers you are going to create a care and feeding nightmare.

I don't know if this is the answer for you but the 1st thing I'd try is compressing the photos. Smaller size file should load quicker.

just make the relosultion on the photos smaller and they will still look good.  Probably that's the only issue if the site is mobile responsive.
