This seems to be working, and from the ground people can only see one side at a time, most will never notice the two tone look to this roof.

So I wonder if there were trees hanging over the 'new side' that thrashed it and they had no choice but to fix it, but the other side didn't need it.

Still . . . gotta think resale with every move you make and it'll probably cost them a whole roof later.

Why? Isn't the two tone look in style now!!  I noticed earlier today that a neighbor of ours used to have solar panels for their 'pool only' on the top of their roof and now they're missing! And in place is a mess they left behind. I'm guessing a new roof is in order for these folks.

I've seen listings where half the roof was newer than the other half.  Usually do to some remodel or something.  Not to where they used a different style of shingle though.

Well what about giving the buyer enough credit once escrow closes, to replace the whole roof? The seller probably don't have enough to pay for it but needs to sell.

They saved a few bucks. In 2 years the roof will be upgraded to metal. In the meantime, they can drive the neighbors nuts. 

The one across the street may be thinking MOSAIC! This is how artsy  colonies get started. The 'bowling ball house' was the embryo that started a large colony in Safety Harbor FL>

I'd imagine it was either damaged on one side & the other side was still good and/or it was just less money to do half. Slap some solar panels on one side & no one will ever know.
