Some parts of my adjacent areas (Malibu, Agoura, etc.) are at risk of being shut down.  I hear up north with PG&E it's 1 million with a possibility of up to 2 million for several days.  Not good, especially with higher temperatures.  Plus food spoils and a host of other problems.  I'd love to see everyone send bills for refrigerators and freezers full of food to PG&E.

Ugh. 26 years tomorrow moved from California to here. It's bad enough when the wind knocks power out for a couple of hours. I hope yours is still up when you get there.

Start the class action lawsuit against PGE for not maintaining their equipment and living in the dark ages. Super distruptive to Bay Area Business - expect traffic jams (lights off), restaurants have to throw away food, computer servers batteries die, cell phones may be disrupted...  Do you have Santa Ana winds (we had fog and no wind, yet)

I'm not in CA but here in ND we are in the troughs of a multi-day blizzard and the leaves are still on the trees so we are looking at trees and limbs breaking off and falling onto power lines. I've got my generator ready to go.

I am in Pacifica, so far none. Here is what I found " The Tom Lantos Tunnels near Devil's Slide on State Route 1 were initially forecast to close during the planned power shutoff that is impacting the region.

"Caltrans has confirmed that the Tom Lantos Tunnel along CA-1 in Pacifica will remain open during the PG&E Power Shutdown," the metropolitan transportation commission said Wednesday at 10 a.m"

No problem so far for my family or business. We are in a community that will have a power shut off today but I do not think it will cover my office location.

Our 93 year old mother-in-law who lived in the Sierra foothills has not power. We are glad there are other family members near her who can be helpful but who are similarly burdened with no electric power at this time.

PG&E can leave the power on and get blamed if there is a fire or turn the power off to try to avoid fires amidst record high winds combined with very low humidity.

If you had to make the call, what would you choose?

I am not in CA but will be watching to see what the fallout from this tactic is. I can see why they decided to do it, but I don't know that it is the best answer.

Our city had power outages this morning due to the SNOW! Way too early for that to be happening around here! Trees have not dropped their leaves yet and were catching snow and bringing down power lines.

It that not the most bizarre outcome one could have imagined.

The utility says, "If you plan to sue me, I'll shut the lights off." Let's see if the citizen compels those California Ding-Bats making the rules to grant immunity.

In Florida, three nights of sleeping in sweat makes tempers easy to unleash.

Maybe i just dont get why high tension lines are coming down in the wind? Not maintained? Poorly built? It seems extreme to shut off power to a million people every time the winds blow hard.

I'm curious to see what happens too. My son lives in San Jose and he works from home. Will they be shutting down businesses? How will it affect airports, hospitals, retirement communities, etc?

Why are they having power outages? Being it's happening in CA, I'm wondering whether it's an initiative toward saving the planet or some sort of political protest.

I cannot believe the Governor is getting a pass on this This is not just people having homes without power It affects everything gas stations, grocery stores, all the essential things for daily living. Hospitals, senior homes, animal centers and homes for disabled or in critical need of ozygen.  People cant work or go to school.  This is completely NUTS

I don't understand why the state is not stepping in here and protecting the people of California. Bizarre

someone said on Facebook that even in Somalia they turn the power back on at 8AM... not in beautiful California
