Not specifically but modifications to homes and lifestyles seem to evolve as we evolve.   Over the years, I have had clients who had certain personal requirements.  These are the things that make life in real estate interesting and a bit like a detective looking for clues to find the "workable" solution.

Not so much. I see that most of my elderly clients want to purchase a single story home or condo and that's it.  Or they are selling their home to move to an assisted living facility.

Not so much, but we do point out features that may be beneficial to them in the future. Example, single story home, wide doorways, easy pass kitchen, etc.

No, I don't remember anyone asking about these kinds of modifications but I think they're a great idea.

Most of my friends and relatives live in a one-level home, though I have potential clients who will be needing AIP accommodations. Also, there is a 55+ community that offers AIP units for people who want to remain in the same area rather than being shuttled across the country to their kid's homes or into a care facility.

SOme times, I have worked with over 65 housing since 2002 when it realy started to flourish here in NH. Many homes are 2 stories or 2 big an dthey really need a new 1 story home. Some dont want to move and can adapt.

I have never been asked.

However, I have always taken the opportunity to suggest Universal Design when updates are made.

In FLORIDA, suggesting to an elderly to spend money is fraught with peril. That means referring to 3rd parties like AARP is essential.

I was 45 when I received my notification from AARP that I was a member.

I have never once been asked by anyone about aging-in-place home modifications and as someone who is a septuagenarian herself with an octogenarian husband, most of our social contacts are "older" people.

No. However I have advised people in the 50's the stairs may become problematic as they get older. Has that ever influenced their buying decision? No.

I've only vaguely heard people mention this term years ago.  It's not an issue out here.  Most remodel their homes to keep up with the "Property Brothers", "Flip or Flop" or "Desert Flippers".

Actually just the opposite. I find that most people resist the idea that they cannot do what they used to do. I have had many clients in their 50s & 60s that are buying bigger homes that require more maintenance. Homes with steps, homes out in the country with poor access to services.

I am fighting this battle right now with family members. They refuse accommodations because they are ugly.

It hasn't happened specifically but I have pointed out issues in the homes we have seen where it could work for them - no steps, wide halls, etc.
