In reality I wouldn't buy either since I'm on a less-is-more kick. But... in this hypothetical situation, if I wanted to buy both but could only buy one, I'd get the antique double door set that fits in my closet and is gratifying to me. I don't give two you-know-whats about whether anyone thinks I shop for quality and am willing to pay for it.

However, I am all about history & retro - most things made many moons ago are of higher quality than the RH armoire anyway! So, I would go with the antique Greek piece...

The only time I place any value to "stuff" "belongings" "personal possessions" is when it comes time to insure it.  Otherwise, it is just a thing. In the end, it does not matter.  I cannot take it with me.

It depends on the style of the room it's going in. If it's an Armoire & it's going in my MBR I'd probably go with #1. I do however have a Formal Living Room made up of Antiques & I might find a place for #2 in there- I am picky though with antiques!

If one cares about what others think and trying to impress, then #1 is your option.  However, if one surrounds themselves with things they love and enjoy, #2 is the option.  

I couldn't care less what others think, since they do not live in my home.  I choose pieces that are unique and "fit" the particular wall or floor space I want to fill.  I have a mingling of Asian chests I picked up decades ago in Korea and other international travel  pieces, and they "don't go" with other furniture, but I don't care.  I smile whenever I see them and it brings back great memories.  I live to enjoy my life and not by the opinion of others.
