I don't get refunds... I don't believe in giving the government a free loan. But I did pay a whole lot less in taxes this year on more income thanks to the changes in the tax code.

I never want to overpay the government. Would rather owe with money I have set aside (and earned interest on) than giving the government money to waste.

Like Nina Hollander I've never believed in getting a refund, though I almost always do.  The tax code changed benefited me, so I'm happy.

Taxes were a bit easier this year with the standard deductions being increased. I make sure each year that I don’t get refunds. I’d rather keep it for myself than give the government interest free money

I was fortunate enough to see more in each paycheck and more at tax time.  I upped my 401k contribution substantially and did a few other things to help with that, though.

my goal is always zero, but there was $500 that I was entitled to get back this year, but left it as a carry over so I can pay a smaller estimate by that much this month.  Over all I had much more of my money in my pocket this year as did my husband.
