Not at all, with the protection that credit cards offer. You are not liable for fraudulent credit card charges. Not worried about identity theft as well. True, it could be a nuisance clearing up identity fraud, good thing is that you're also not liable for any fraudulent accounts opened in your name. No needless fear here.

The best precautions will NOT totally protect you...so DON'T worry, be happy!

Not really. I was a victim of CC fraud a couple times and ID fraud once but the CC issuers were great...caught it right away, closed the account and overnighted me new cards. ID theft is inconvenient but not nearly as much of a hassle to deal with as it was 10 years ago.

I do take certain precautions such as using PayPal as much as possible and  have a reloadable CC to use when PP is not accepted.

I try to remain aware but I understand that stuff can happen.  Worrying won't solve it.   

No. I do not order anything online in public ... I order from the privacy of my office with a secure connection.  Credit card fraud is covered as well. 

I'm as vigilant as possible without avoiding making online purchases altogether, Paul.

The biggest preventative measure, in my opinion, is never using public wifi.

No Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS but I should. I trust my firewall and other software BUT someone did use my ID and personal info to buy a phone recently as I've talked about in two recent posts. In my new office I am NOT using wifi as a precaution.

No doubt you have to be diligent. But I don't think that you can function in today's world without online access to so many things.

All of us need to be alert.

I use one credit card for all online purchases with an intentionally smaller balance and I watch that bill very carefully.  I don't use unsecured wifi.  I have an ID Theft watch program.  I'm cool with it.

I use my Starbucks app to pay for Starbucks items. My Starbucks account was recently hacked and the balance transferred to another card. That card was then closed down. I wonder how many Starbucks accounts were hacked and money transferred into that account and where the money went before the culprit got away...probably never to be caught.

I keep apps to a minimum, and dormant.  Apps like Google and others can pinpoint your location, and not only that they sell your location to advertisers. I book travel on my Mac, and regularly clear history.  I check in on line without an app, and can print or have the check in on my email.

No, I don't worry too much; at the end of the day we can't protect ourselves 100% of the time. And one thing I don't do is allow many sites who need my credit card number save it. I prefer to enter my number each time. I also don't do any sensitive searching or purchasing on my phone or tablet. I also don't use public wifi for sensitive transactions. I have very few apps on my phone and tablet.

I don't worry too much about it, but do take precautions to avoid it from happening.

Generally speaking, the sites you purchase from will be SSL encrypted.  This means that (without some thought and effort) the people around you won't know what you're doing.  That's the whole purpose behind the whole SSL the Internet push from late last year.

It's still possible to compromise those sites, through a "man in the middle" attack, but like I said that takes effort (although not as much as it once did).

I have had many cards hacked from data breaches and nothing i could do can change that. My #1 is using credit cards now and not my debit card. Then check every monthly statement for anything suspicous

that's happened to me once..... my amex card was compromised and amex found it before I was billed....I had no idea someone in phillie had a shopping spree with my card... spent thousands... they knew it wasn't ME!!!!

amex called me and I was soooo upset....they did not charge me anything....immediately overnighted another card....and then I had to call those who had my number for billing purposes.... 

pain in the neck... now I have notification of anything over $500...

I have had bad experiences with ordering online.  Someone else has ordered online with my card number but also took money from my account several times.  The bank will make it up but there are scammers out there just waiting to pounce.

Yes, I do.  But there are some precautions that can be taken.  Using a VPN is a big one.

Keep a credit card with min limit. Never store you credit card info with anyone.  Quit paying or storing data on smart phone.  That phone will disappear or misplace in a matter of weeks.  When outside of US never access money information.

We all must be aware of the threat of identity thieves. I just keep my devices monitored by security services.

I never order anything not at home or my cell. Had it happen from a post here right on AR a few years ago. Women  assumed my identity in Georgia.

Fraud is so rampant and citizens so vulnerable, the credit card companies offer to protect you/me from on-line fraud.

No. They need to obscure how truly vulnerable the on-line financail system really is. If they were compelled to disclose how much money is stolen from them via on-line crooks the citzens would suddenly understand they are ducks in a barrel.  Adding more ducks is statisticaly favorable. When China hits the 'disrupt' button, there will then be no place to hide.

A couple of times a year I get to call American Express and notify them I did not purchase a fleet of commercial mowers, or a suite of recording studio equipment or even that list of 36 $19 purchases from across the country.

Until the USA notifies the world that on-line defenses will not include offensive strategies, the crooks and state sponsored crooks, will ALWAYS have the advantage and yes, we are all vulnerable.

Do you know what happens when one becomes the true victim of identity theft (not bank fraud)? This is much, much more serious than a crook buying a fleet of commercial mowers using my AE account.
