Why do I feel as if you're selling something here? I hate Facebook... personally and professionally. 

RE professionals whining about how terrible FB is grinds my gears. ;-)

Like all forms of marketing, the ability to convert leads into clients is what separates the pretenders from the contenders.

FB marketing works well when we understand how to generate leads from it, is incredibly inexpensive (even free if you know how to utilize local FB groups), and it gives us the ability to tap into a mega resource of potential new leads, regardless of the market size. If for no other reason, knowing exactly where a ready-made and extremely large group of local consumers are going to be, and having the means to directly interact/share/generate calls to action should be reason enough to be on the site.

In my experience, it works best as a secondary source of prospects, complemented by other forms of online (blogging) and offline (print media) marketing.

I don't really have any 'rubs' with FB - I do minimal advertising there and it is 100% ads for listings/open houses. I have had great success with open house ads there.

Primarily, for me anyway, Facebook is a great place to start conversations and I much prefer that than sending out email solicitations to my clients. 

Covert advertising and politics are the two items I could do without on FB or any place I go to have a positive experience.

I do not use FB ads ... nor am I interested in draining my bank account to see how to be effective with ads on FB because they will change it leaving those using it to rinse and repeat and continue to drain their bank account. 

No gear grinding" moments.  Not much thought at all actually.  

Love FB, I use a third party vendor to make it work in a non real estate industry business.

that's a good question for Anita Clark and Katerina Gasset ...I don't do facebook ads.... but I do use Facebook every day....personal and business pages....

... We have great success with FB...we work with high end tech folks that drive a great ROI .... one can easily get lost in it ... yet we find it very profitable ......

Where to start!?!

1. Their highly political agenda
2. How they leave up pro-ISIS and beheading videos but will immediately remove anything pro-America and even ban accounts
3. How they don't respect their user's privacy

Where do I begin to describe my thought about social media and face book in particular.  This is not a quick question to answer. 

Looks like spam to me. 

With all the fake media news and it is compounded by false news from real estate agents.

I used this platform to find out about people I knew years and years ago and what they were up to. After that, if one has a life, they should live it

I post to FB and nothing else, don't even read posts. If anything bothers me about FB it would be their political bias.

What grinds my gear about FACEBOOK?

Mainly the IDIOTS who use it. I am losing faith that citizens are redeemable in protecting what should be a private life.

But, idiots and their money are soon parted.

So, FB is the only advertising a real estate agent needs to do. However, results are not often obtained that are satisfactory to the agent using the tools as delivered by FB. An agent needs to hire a agency with tools of better analytics to get amazing results.

The problem of the agent is which evil do they feed. Zdevil or FB?

You would think a audience who promotes 'We got ethics' would use neither. And yes, there are a few agents who can claim they have not been tainted by the moral compromise.

The grind is the pretense of tolerance that allows only one school of thought. But that may not be the Fault of FB but due to the action of the occupying idiots.

I am aware some business have abandoned having their own websites and rely on their FB presence EXCLUSIVELY.  They make it easy for me to keep my money and to be frank, ignore them. I guess I need to accept the dumbing down of America and get on board with the program....but not today.

I try not to let others grind my gears.

So if I just answer your actual question (in bold) which says "what grinds your gears when it comes to Facebook?" it would have to do with seeing people who are so hot about an issue respond in a nasty derogatory way to others. I'm not even talking about things I've posted on, or posted myself, but it's everywhere! That's what grinds my gears.  As for Facebook leads, I get leads from friends, but don't advertise for them.

What grinds my gears are the haters and those who put FB marketing down and yet, have never done it in earnest or don't keep trying until something works for them. 

Facebook is getting smarter and smarter getting your ads in front of your ideal leads. But you have to work it. There is no magic bullet. 

No problem with Facebook. I do not use it for business.
