Broken?  I don't know but there are issues with the system.

It's as effective as the phrase, "don't tell anyone, but..." is for preventing gossip.
We have given up so many rights in our user agreements. Among them, the wireless companies felt jargon in their contracts allowed them to sell our real time location data. Although they've said they have stopped this, it's still a very easy workaround for marketers.

Most don't even bother to check the DNC list.

Perhaps the list itself is a scam causing people to believe it works. 

I block 4 calls yesterday on my cell phone. That was a light day. My landline gets as many calls.  Oh, what fun!

While I realize some agents also use auto dailing - it's maddening to hussle to pick up the call only to get an automated message of one kind or another. It does get to the point where I want to silence the phone and just let things go to VM and call back. It puts me in a bind. I want to pickup when called as a service point to the public but I don't want the automated and other solicitations.  The intent and spirit of the DNC list has definitely been defeated.

Broken! Too many exceptions:  if you subscribe to a magazine, all of their affiliates can contact you.  Ugh!

It never stops, does it, Michael? I think it's been 'broken' for quite some time now too.

The telemarketers are not intimidated one little bit, since the FCC is clearly not pursuing these scumbags

Not sure it has ever worked the way it was intended.

They don't check against the Do Not Call Registry.  I filed a complain toward these people through the Do Not Call Registry (on line) and I think it took about a week or two before they finally stopped.

I guess I am chopped liver since I don't get much at all.

My perception is that it has been "broken" from the implementation.  A lack of an easier method to report and actual action taken against offenders results in no change.

The enforcement arm of government is broken....

I get the same prerecorded Google Business listing message like clockwork.  The callers have loopholes to call you (we've done business together) or they straight-up don't care about the list.

The DNC list is broken the same way, by the some people, who feel entitled to gripe about the consequences.

And, when those who IMPOSED the DNC list exempted themselves....well, that message was load and clear.

Hey, it always boils down to 'Whoever interfers with me getting to MY GOAL is the villian.  DNC, door knockers and those damned dogs in the grocery store, each one with opposing goals.

Just trying to make a living. I don't begrudge anyone trying to make a living. ROBO calling, however, may not fall always within that category. (see exempt above) Sometimes there is someone on the other side who actually has something worth keeping their contact information.

Michael, in a word "yes". I don't think the "Do not call list" works at all! It's a joke.

Do not call doesn't apply to a business phone number. Since you probably have your number on a website and your business card it may be considered a business number. But...everyone saying the DNC rules don't work are probably right. I haven't had a resident landline or dedicated personal cell phone in so long I don't have first hand knowledge if telemarketers are following the law are not. I dare say that there are some real estate agents out there who push the DNC limits, if not cross them. 

I get 7 to 10 calls daily.  It will continue until the Feds take action

The "do not call list" is a primary source of scammers. The loop holes are huge!

The Do Not Call List is useless. Totally ineffective.

Of course it's broken, it was a bad idea from the beginning set up by communists that discriminate against business while allowing politicians, fake charities, and other scammers make all the calls they want.

As soon as do not call went into effect hackers began to develop methods to circumvent the system ... out going phone numbers that you can't call. And masked numbers.. I don't mean Private or Blocked I mean they can make the number on your screen something different I have even received calls from my OWN PHONE # lol when I do get spam calls I just add them to my # reject list I probably only get 3-4 a month at this point have you tried that? Michael J. No one is paying attention.

Between the solicitor calls and the spoofed number calls, I have the same problem. I started using the Hiya app and it flags incoming calls that are spam so I let them go to voice mail then block.
