Sure! Blog away, Annette! I'm always open to revisiting business practices that I have let fall to the wayside.
I revisited hosting open houses a few years ago and have found great success in doing them in recent years. It's the fine-tuning that we do as we learn from each one we host that makes the difference.

I don't exhibit at EXPOs and rarely attend. But I am always open to new ideas in alternate forums.

We participate in the Frederick County Builders Association Home Show every year. Known as the kick off to the spring market. Always open to new techniques

How to get peoples contact info tactfully is challenging as all know and guard against this agenda. I often provide "free" services and products and have to state there are no catches or hidden agendas...That's how bad it is. The best approach I have seen is giving something of interest or value to a prospective client/customer in return for their time, attention and hopefully their data. Not perfect and perhaps costly but still inviting. I often see a brand new car or motorcycle and a sign that says: Fill-out this form for a chance to win (this). People gave their data non-stop but who won the car? Ahhh...it said for a chance. That is this world. Tact or tacky?

Hi Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 . Can I reblog your post on a dating site?? I guess my mind is in the gutter this morning but it could make for some exciting answers to your question. It's just too funny to me and it's gets funnier everytime I re-read your post. Thanks. Best Q&A post yet.

In the early years of my business I spent a lot of time exhibiting at various expos for woodland owners, farmers, and sportsmen.
Some were profitable, some were expensive, in the end we stopped doing them as the fees involved continued to escalate and roi continued to fall.

Annete,
It really depends on your marketplace. In Napa during the Spring Fair, lenders and agents did a booth together, and had real leads that led to listings and loans on the middle priced market. I would not advise a luxury agent to do that. They would thrive at the Concours d"Elegance in Pebble Beach, the Antique Luxury Car Show. A

For a couple years while running our association's YPN group we had a booth at our association's Realtor Expo. We had some decent engagement, but nothing spectacular. Didn't lead to any new members and engagement at events was fairly unimproved.
