I am still not convinced that most of the agents in the biz are on the same mental plane that they need to be.

...because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.

We all have personal struggles that are designed to strengthen us.

Depending on the situation and mental make-up of the person involved, all could have merit!

Not all struggles have to do with real estate, but with some, it is where it starts. I interact with many other agents in a day and especially in winter when business can slow for some, the struggle can grow bringing on other struggles. As i sat in big office yesterday waiting to pick up a check, their "up agent" sat playing words with friends, a game i love, but as they spoke about how dead it is, it could be they are waiting for business instead of going and finding some business. Their troubles are self inflicted. 

I ike positive solutions from people who are problem solvers and can offer advice on how to weather the storm, not just brush you off with cliches.

Everyone's personal struggle and story is different so it is difficult to answer based on your imaginary scenario.

Personally, I believe in "Fall down six times, get up seven".

Those are bad pieces of advice.

I like the circling the drain metaphor, is that an original? Can I use it?

i don’t like listening to others false words.  I go internal and make it happen.

The answers lie within me. 

We are ALL natural born creators ... if anything is circling the drain, we created it and we can create something different. 

I ignore and look internally, deeply.

I was just talking with my dad about this - I recently hit some pretty cool milestones professionally, and when talking with him about it, he referenced a conversation we had in 2011 when he was really trying to convince me (along with my mom) to get out of this industry.  He said "well, I guess your success is a really great "f you" to the advice we gave you....I'm glad you didn't listen to us!!"

Sometimes you have to dig deep, know what you've got and what you're capable of, and go get it.  Listening to others is OK for perspective, but never for your final direction.

They dont need to tell me that, I am the persistent one.

Depends on how much thought they put into it.  If it's a courtesy response, probably not.

My real estate business has never 'circled the drain' and I have had many personal challenges going on as I simultaneously conduct business - as many of us have.

I don't take the time to seek the advice of others, I just push forward.

Depends.

There will be struggle in life and in business. Real estate is most likely the best place to test your mettle. The statistics of who is left standing after 1, 3 or 5 years mete this out.

My initial reaction would be to gut it out.  Though I thing seeking advice has some merit to it as well.

Nature rises to every occasion and even has developed cycles to make it more user friendly. Humans would do well to cooperate with change, growth and advancement instead of employing denial, excuses and failures as norm

I look at it as there is always a few that fall apart so I don't worry about it

I have had more than my share of family personal struggles lately and agents and buyers and sellers have all be super understanding and worked well with me.  I have gotten everything done, but I've been stressed and overworked.  I tend to keep most of it inward, but I did let my cleints and other agents know what I was dealing with personally so they would be aware.  All were sensative to my time when I was dealing with family issues.

I am a positive person.
