For me - yes - total waste of my time and always has been. I built the business on referrals and long term relationships and that takes being in front of folks.

You know what this reminds me of?

When we have had occasion to send an unsolicited offer or request for proposal on a property that hasn't been listed, but for some reason or another our client wants.

For some, it's an intrusion.

Others, it's a godsend, as if a prayer has literally been answered out of the blue.

So you never know. There are a million different ways a cold call could end up.

So, do you feel lucky?

I do not cold call.

It's not my style. I hate being cold-called so I don't inflict it on anyone else. But I here it works for some people. Of course those who cold call me don't get far!

PS someone who is a current customer is not someone who falls into the category of being cold-called!

It truly depends. It works for someand is a time-waster for others.  The person/caller matters.  

Depends on your attitude towards this kind of marketing. Most people stay away from it, few are very successful. 

I am not a fan of cold calling.

I think it is IMHO. Too much technology now to thwart that effort. I used to do it 4 hours a day & was good at it.

While we humans are here in this short period of time, we are reminded that 1. all things are allowed and 2. Get to it! The opposite is a waste of time

You really need to be a 'bad ass' marketer to do the cold calling thing. Most real estate agent are just toooooooooo soft.

YES becuase most are illegal if they are on the DNC list. I do call the occasional expired or fsbo when it is something i know i could sell or havhe a buyer for. Because they are selling their home, realtors can indeed call them. Once....

I don't cold call so, I can't speak to its effectiveness.

Cold calling was part of my business plan for many years and it's use allowed me to close 44 units in 2009 when utilizing it. It isn't viable for every project but it can be effective for some. Instead of Bruce Lee's "art of fighting without fighting" I call the technique the art of selling without selling! Expect rejection!

3) Yes! I enjoy meeting people and most people like me when I introduce myself. Every time I meet someone I don't know it's a cold call and an opportunity for me to enlarge my SOI
