After lunch and after dinner.

Mornings are busy with catching up on emails and returning/making calls but by afternoon most of the fires have been put out and I can work relatively uninterrupted.

Same with evenings...after dinner is when I prepare for whatever the AM activity will be. It's quiet and I can hear my self think. :)

For time-consuming, intensive projects, I find late nights, early mornings are very productive. Back in college, I was always the late/stay up all night guy.  It has carried over since then.  Often there are too many distractions during the day. Late night, no distractions, is hunker down time.
