If found during a property inspection, this would be asked of the professional home inspector.

Household item of course....
They came out of under the house. People complained about the smell. I took notice and observed waste water plumbing had a leak or two. Then I realize I had 20 potential leaks! This came from the sewage discharge side only from the kitchen side. It has been in use for 72 years use. More research suggested the cast iron piping can last close to 75 years. The bathroom to drain still got some milage left. These corrosion holes were bottom side from grease, detergenet used while men's waste, tp and shower appear to be less corrosive. Today, sewer plumbing is made mostly from ABS which resists to corrosive waste and technically last a century or longer. These cast iron piping require replacement more often from commercial use than domestic application.

Looks like a water pipe. Water pipe should be galvanized, so it wouldn't rust like this one. This pipe also has alternative uses which could be many things.
