     If members en masse would boycott NAR (don't pay the dues), that organization would crumble.  But NAR has everyone by the gonads; they control MLS in most states, and they won't grant you MLS access unless you pay their extortion dues.

But, my confusion lies in understanding what 'like NAR" means.

If you refer to associations who collect money from membership and provide nothing of value to the member then the answer is a resounding, YES.
