What's a snow shovel?!!

Seriously, I love a good snow but, since the entire city of Charlotte closes down when we have enough to cover a handkerchief, no shoveling is necessary! We get a day of rest...at home!

I don't own a snow shovel... but even if I did, I would not be shoveling snow for clients. They can arrange for their own shoveling service. Otherwise, what's next? Should we be cleaning their homes and washing their windows for them?

Will Hamm No, I do not.

I'm not the maintenance guy.

I'm the real estate broker.

It's the responsibility of a property owner to maintain their property.

I do not intent to place myself in the path of a liability lawsuit if or when someone falls and claims the snow wasn't properly removed.

I did it once. I arrived at an inspection and there were a few feet of snow. I had a shovel in my car for car emergencies and shoveled a pathway to the street. I was the listing agent. The client didn’t even thank me.

Snow already?

Yes, I do carry a snow shovel. I usually recommend absent homeowners to make arrangements for their driveways and walkways to have the snow removed. In some cases, I have shoveled snow just to keep the shoveled walkway clear for a listing.

no.... my team members do not shovel anyone's walkways.... it's the homeowner's responsibility to maintain their own property.... they put their house on the market and they must provide safe access for showings.... I would not want to be responsible for questionable quality of cleaning off a walkway and have someone fall.... no thanks.

It is too early to snow in town, but I saw some fresh snow on the mountains Saturday. I think it is a good idea to carry a shovel in winter if you live in a snowy area, regardless if you are showing homes.

I cast my vote with Maria Sapio It's too early to discuss that 4-letter word, snow, but we know it will arrive in PA, sooner or later.

I tell newbie agents in my training classes to keep a shovel, boots, and extra warm clothing, just in case.

In the winter, I do carry a snow shovel. I use it if I am showing houses that were not shoveled and my buyers need to be able to get in. I make sure my sellers know they need to keep their paths clear, so I don't normally have to do listings.

I don't promise anyone I'll clean their snow; most definately not on a regular basis. In some cases though, it's not done if you don't do it; so I have had to shovel a few paths to get into some of our listings. My thoughts are you do what you have to do; it's not always fun.
