I use MagicJack and it's decent enough.  Sometimes it has trouble with my father's phone, but other than that it works well.

I can't believe my office goes thru Comcast for everything now. Might try there. We got 5G baby! Too bad it won't let us connect to it most of the time. 

My only experience with VOIP has been with Vonage, Bob. It was problem free and rather inexpensive. I don't use it anymore as I no longer need it.

Sorry... but got rid of mine years ago and have paid no attention to anything out there since.

  I tried Vonage and I tried Skype.  I don't use or need either one.

Bob, you can get a phone number from Google? It's free and it can ring in on top of current number or cell phone.

We use Skype with international clients and an occasional meeting. It's free and it does the work for super small groups.

Vonage and Skype have been around for over 10 years so they must be doing something right. I've also heard that MajicJack works well.

My cell phone goes over VOIP when I'm in a WIFI area, unlimited voice and text with a data plan with Republic Wireless. My last bill was a grand total of only $24.81.  A couple years ago I paid only $100./yr with another carrier, but without a data plan. Both phones worked great in business.

I have only used Skype and WhatsApp.

I had a good experience with a free number from Google tied to my cell phone! No longer need it!

We've used 8x8 for cloud-based VOIP for more than 10 years with great success.  It represents a good value for the product/service.  For an in-house VOIP solution be careful and only use Cisco hardware.

Got rid of ours.  Look into something called TalkRoute.  It is not VOIP but a virtual PBX.  It works great and forwards to our cell or landline.  Can transfer all existing lines over to it.  I still have my Chicago number, but am in business in Arizona, with talkroute, people can dial a local number here in AZ and it transfers to my cell.  People can also text to the number.

All land line carriers employ VOIP.

Many cellulars take a leap using VOIP in their connections.

We are ALL using VOIP because those whom we pay know it's the best way to go. That is also why, if the Internet goes down....we ALL notice.

I will wager that your Internet Service Provider would be happy to package VOIP with your subscription. Add $30  a month...the prevailing rate for shiny things.
