Until we stop giving them our data and paying them for leads, whether real estate agents or lenders, we're going to have to deal with them. 

Like Candice A. Donofrio, I can't IMAGINE they would be able to provide the level of service that you and everyone else's preferred lenders do.

        Z's original plan was to destroy NAR (that was stated verbally at a meeting by Spencer Rascoff; there are people who were present that will attest to that statement).  It looks like destroying Realtors isn't enough for GodZillow; now they are coming after the banking industry.

    The difference?  NAR is a bunch of blow-hards and pizz ants.   But the banking industry has billions and trillions of dollars; they own presidents and kings and queens.  Zillow will play by THEIR rules.

Well, let's see if they're as woefully inefficient with consumers dollars as they are with our data.

And for sure, Zillow will do it. 

Most likely, it will be successful. 

It doesn't surprise me at all. Some consumers will think that is a good service. When Zillow opens a real estate brokerage that will not surprise me either though they swear they won't do it. Sure they will one day.

It makes sense because of name recognition---I wonder about the "front line" reputation.

Personally I would not shop online for a mortgage or a lender, it's all about your sphere and local relationships if you wish to be successful

I saw this a little bit ago.  They also had to get their Broker's license in Arizona to be able to continue with their home buying program there.

My thoughts are: 1) Title and escrow are next.  2) If they reach critical mass of their owned homes they will become their own MLS and cut out agents completely.  All they need is some minimum wage paper pusher to handle the paperwork and to field calls.  A company can sell FSBO and have one of their employees do the transaction work, if my understanding of the rules is accurate.

The stock market has answered.

I saw that today in the email headers, I think that it is just part of their plan to be the one stop real estate store of the future.

Fortunately, not everyone will want to shop there, but many will.

I have no opinion because I know nothing about it.  Personally, I would never work with them.

I think it's a bad idea just like Rocket Mortgage. It takes more to getting a loan than just punching in a few numbers. LO's are needed & should be valued. It's just too complex an idea.

I saw something on Zillows site (that I use for free rental advertising which btw is very effective) that they now give their opinion of what the home should rent for regardless of what the landlord says. I say $2800 Zillow says $2400 and the consumer accepts Zillows position eagerly!  Following that thought/action they can now recommend lenders, appraisers, agents etc. & it is working. Why? How? Zillow has their firm foot in the Real Estate door. Like it or not...they are here to stay & play Real Estate

Anything that has z's name on it is trouble for us.

Why do I want to give any sort of money to a entity that is trying to put me out of business if I won't  play with them

well they haven't been saying year after year... we will NEVER become a mortgage company so ... 

But I'm sitting back watching the agents in Arizona flip out because they are getting a brokerage license there.  To make offers?  Because they are being REQUIRED to?  I'm wondering if all buyers who make offers are REQUIRED to be a broker in Arizona.  LOL  

It's sickening. I can't imagine it being good for lenders or agents. Quicken Loans | AKA Rocket Mortgage is a nightmare. Just saying.

Just think if they provide the same care to mortgage services and info that they do to their "Zestimates", John Meussner!

I have no thoughts on Z or the mortgage company.

With their net income in the negative and a ton of cash at their disposal why not give it a try.

Not much, when is the last time they looked in a home. I have found that their estimates here in Florida are off since our market is so fluid and they can't keep up with the market. The site is easy to use and many folks use it.

Same as how I feel about Zillow in the real estate industry - not worthwhile!   Their accuracy is almost questioned, so why not the mortgage piece too!

IF one chooses to support the EVIL EMPIRE they are no better than the EVIL EMPIRE.

An agent or a mortgage broker who has advertising or placement are announcing they are 'ethics' challenged and the all others should take note.

But it is convenient to be able to hire others to steal IP, misrepresent, deceive, offer false data and exploit the weakness of others and still sing the 'we got ethics' chorus.
