Only one this year.
People did not get financing. 20% down-payment was not enough for that deal...

< 1% . . . we marry at LEISURE . . . so we do NOT repent in haste!
27 deals since this time past year, 3 cancellations and 2 had backups that slipped right in. The third one, County wouldn't approve his parking lot--he acted in good faith.

Although I haven't had that happen in a very long time, I know the percentage is high right now.
I believe the percentage high right now because buyers are doing everything they can to win in bidding wars. After winning, they wake up the next day, wondering what the heck they just did! They will terminate sometimes before the ink is even dried on the Contract.
This is the very reason that I do everything I can to have a back-up Offer in-hand for my sellers. It's a good insurance policy!

I haven't had a deal fall apart prior to closing in over two years... and that was the first one in many years. Buyers walked out on the contract one week before closing and to this day their agent has no idea why.

if an accepted offer falls apart, it's because of the home inspection and a surprise surfaced..... big one....
once we have a signed p/s, it's a done deal....

20-25%. I presume it is because of appraisal. I'm in Silicon Valley and people are going nuts to get a house. Not all my listings/transactions-- just what I see on the MLS. Under contract for about a week and falls through.

I've had one this year - fall apart 1 week before closing, (buyer income fraud) and none last year, so it's very infrequent. I've threatened 3 agents this year, by going back to Active on the MLS "subject to cancellation of current escrow" and notice to performs. I'm seeing a growing problem with agents that seem to vanish and dishonor the contractual time frames.
I run the "not F'n around crew" here when it comes to unprofessional agents. I can't abide them.

I haven't personally lost one in a long time.
Our entire MLS is doing better. A year or so ago the fail right was very high. 30% or more. Most often due to the financing falling through, sometimes due to inspection results.

Do you mean in general or personally? I don't know about the market in general. Personally once we have gotten past final contingency removal I cannot think of a deal that has fallen apart, but certainly a number have before that but I don't track this.

Pretty close to none I can only recall one deal falling apart I represented the buyer and the sellers were really doing some pretty stupid things. Buyers refused to close. Sellers eventually sued them Buyers went to court and won and the sellers ended up also having to pay the buyers attorneys fees inspection fees appraisal and more.

For a while there, 50% of all first escrows, 20% of second escrows and 0% of third. Usually over appraisals when the market was going up rapidly and people (and the comps) hadn't gotten used to it yet.

Yes, that is happening now.

Typically, of 100 leads, 20 will become clients. Of those 20, 5 will close.
The 2 that fell apart just prior to closing, lost in 2018, was due to local lenders. In one case the LO actually ghosted the borrower! POOF - Gone. It was a personal emergency but the LO must still communicate with those involved.
Have never lost a deal when Quicken was involved.....and I do not prefer online lenders.
The data excludes investors and their cash deals.
As a total transaction count, the 'falling apart' rate is less than 8%.
