Sorry honey. I feel you. I come at this with a sense of humor and hopefully learn and teach. We can't mandate others' behavior. It's a sure recipe for stress.
The people who just comment for points have a different reason for being here than I do; just ignore them. The same for people who are playing a role just to earn business or mask insecurity. This is a large online group. You'll get all kinds.

The best way to eliminate the negative is by enveloping it in positives. If something is a problem be a bigger solution. Make your contributions exceptional. Believe me, many people around here share your view and just step over 'tiny'.

I agree with this to an extent. I've encountered 2 very consistently cruel, cold, mean-spirited, threatening, and condemnatory people on here. Their words and behavior reveal things about them (a miserable existence, sad to say). But other than that, it's been a very rewarding and fulfilling experience to mix, mingle and exchange ideas on AR.  - Tim

Why yes this is basically a point driven forum, however take the time to read all the posts and answers, filtering out what you personally don't like or agree with and you will still find a wealth of knowledge in the Q&A section given freely by people from all walks of life in an effort to help make each other better within our business.

I don't share your feeling that there is all that much negativity in this forum. And what's wrong with commenting on someone else's opinion if it's not done in an ugly way. I like to see various opinons. And I never hide behind my keyboard or smart phone... you can see who I am right here. It seems the only person hiding behind those right now is yourself.

I still believe in "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." I also think people do sometimes say negative or rude things, and one of the key requirements of being in this industry is tough skin. So if someone is rude, negative or unconstructive, remember that it reflects on them. And then smile and move onward.

I think that the world has become a place where nearly half the population bashes anything that they do not agree with. If they do not like something, they want it banned. I want civility, i want the nanny state done away with and bring back common courtesy when having a conversation or leaving a comment.
