Oh yeah the one from a few years ago in New Jersey the listing agents were discouraging showings because that was where they were having their hookups. And they got caught on camera.

And the seller's name was Weiner, LMAO I love that! That's like a name that's going to get you caught doing something. But in this case they did the catching!

Faking a death to cancel a contract 1 week prior to COE so as to not lose the deposit and then buy another house.

Too many situations to recount. One of my former associates received a jail term for fraud relating to a HUD transaction. It was such a shame because she was a talented and successful agent. 

   There is a real estate trade organization based in Chicago that has an almost total monopoly on the MLS.  They force real estate agents all over the country to pay them dues, otherwise those agents cannot access the MLS. 

The most amazing situation was selling a house in Blackhawk, which was an ex-drug dealers house who had been arrested for selling cocaine. Made it a difficult sale. To put a marketing twist, during the brokers tour, powdered white donuts were spread all over the kitchen counter. The elephant in the room was definitely recognized. Enjoy.

The most absurd thing that I've heard of is something that has had much publicity locally and nationally. It started with an agent accusing two fellow agents of "manipulating MLS data" - later it turned to extortion. The agent tried to get $800,000 to keep quiet about his accusations.

This is a recent newspaper story Kevin VS. The Jills - Sentencing for KT is set to happen in August, 2018 - It's a bad situation gone worse.

Can't say I've experienced any. I had a client who told me he had an agent once who was renting out his house and pocketing the rent while it was listed for sale and he was already at the other end of the country and had no clue. In NYC I heard of a two agent team who would go on listing appointments and while one spoke with the seller, the other would "inspect" the home and steal jewelry.

Miami's The Jills & Kevin Tomlinson - the moral of that story - two wrongs don't make a right! Kevin is now serving time for extortion.

It's also sad that nothing was done locally, on the state level or nationally to the Jills so, Kevin took the issue into his own hands.

I've never personally been involved in or had anything locally that impacted me or my cliens though - thank God!

there was one agent who would preview EVERY HOME that came on the market....and it would be the very first day active in mls.... one seller found an underwear drawer left slightly open.... another found the medicine cabinet left ajar.... this was decades ago.... as it turned out, he had a drug problem and would search for pills.... wasn't too fussy about what his choices would be.... he always wore 3 piece suits.... was well groomed.... 

eventually, went to rehab.... he's still in the business and about 10 years ago, he called me to ask if we would hire him again..... that ship had sailed.... it was time for him to move on....

Sure but there is enough bad publicity to type for eons. 

My husband had a realtor call him off his A/R blog and told him he had not done his taxes in several years for free, he totally misintrepreted my husband's blog but do you really want a realtor who does not do his taxes represent you? Yikes!

I don't read these type of stories but I walked into a house being advertised "vacant", someone was taking a shower, ran out of the house, advised the agent immediately. No idea who it was.

If the owner of the property does not have a camera, we do show furnished or occupied properties in our presence.

I slipped on a walk board coming out or a new house and broke my wrist and my leg. Nobody was around and I got in my car, was close enough to drive home and my son drove me to the doctor. Surprising I didn't pass out with two broken bones. I heard them snap. 

I don't keep up with that sort of thing. Thanks for sharing. 

Indifference, irresponsibility and negligence tend to run rampant at times

Encountered a similar in person experience as Candice A. Donofrio explained was showing a house and caught an agent and their buyer "Client" checking the sheets in the bed VERY closely LOL

Hearf of a agent was in a house with a client when the owner came home and they were in bed together and the owner was shock.

My buyer broke into the home when it was vacant and moved in.     Then 4 days later the loan fell through.  It was also my listing!

Not controversial...notorious!

An agent and his girlfriend were caught on home surveillance video having sex in a home that was listed for sale.

This one had caught my eye...  It was a few years back, though as we all know, cameras and other recording devices are showing up everywhere. Hopefully the link below works:

I have heard about a showing where an agent and someone else was found in the bedroom doing you know what.

I tend to concentrate on the positive and on myself. But the one situation that stands out is an agent who got caught giving out lock box codes to buyers and sending them to listings without them.

I was being propositioned by a man.  I mentioned my hair rising experience to a female coworker. She said she was almost pinned down by both sexes. This is San Francisco area.
