If anything it should be agent agnostic and be the office's number.  Agreed, an agent shouldn't be doing this, it shows as preferential to that agent.

Your broker does not have any business being a broker if he/she thinks this is okay!

I'd phone the city and report the sign - surely there's an ordinance in your city that would prohibit that?

OMG, I'm SHOCKED that your broker isn't all over this!

OH and I'd be interviewing new brokers too!

Different scenario, same principle.  At our old office, some agents were allowed to put their direct number on their yard signs, others (us included) weren't.  We ultimately left that office because of the disparity...that and the statement by the broker to us that having our number on the signs wouldn't make a difference.   Yeah...and meanwhile whenever we got a new local listing an agent or two from our office who did desk duty would have a showing.

So personally, since my fees are going towards paying for the office to exist, I wouldn't at all care for the idea that a particular agent was being allowed to put a sign out front.  Should be neutral ground.  Bill

Tacky is my first thought. Maybe the broker sees it as initiative? creative? or something else. i doubt if it generates any business for the agent. Not worth worrying about. That same agent could put up same sign at all interssections leading to your office. At some point, I would bet all the signs get removed by someone. Eventually agent will figure out that the sign isn't working. BUT, how would other agents in office feel if that agent picks up a few listings from that sign? Would they congratulate the agent on the new listings, or get mad? Check you local sign regulations and ordinances.

First, no municipality I work in would allow that without a permit. Second, if the sign meets requirements it's a win / win for agent and brokerage. Third, as a Broker I would accept and recommend this to ALL of the office associates although only when they are actively on floor duty.

The broker may see that agent as innovative because they were the first to do what they did.  That said, it's out of line which may be why others didn't take the leap.  A generic sign would be a better approach.

Your broker's inaction has obviously alienated you and I think it's safe to say you're not alone.

We have a reader board where agents are allowed to advertise one week at a time in a rotation to get leads.  during their time they can put their cell number under the office sign to get leads.  But it's equitable for all licensees at my firm with time on the board.
