   The promise of a "Free House" was a Total Scam.

    Hundreds of people fell for it.  They stood in the heat for hours, until City Officials told them it was not real.

Free house in Detroit has no appeal to us.  We like it here.  A few years back France had a program where you could get a home with acreage for free in the countryside providing you bring it up to date.  A friend of my mother's did that and it worked for her.

I did not participate, why would I want a detroit house?  Even if you got one for free, you could go broke paying the taxes on a useless property.

Fred Griffin I'm from Detroit.  They had homes close to free during the recession.  The areas were horrendous but the city is making a comeback.  It would be great to get Google or Amazon to invest and bring jobs to this devastated community.  Detroit has offered so much to the growth of our nation.  We must never forget.

Didn't hear about it but have heard of ligitimate programs in various other area.. usually free or very very cheap and just require the buyers to rehab the building within a period of time. They can usually also obtain very favorable financing for the rehab. Heard of a few in the N. Virginia region that happen now and then
