Something that THEY, the hosts who sold you the class, should have revealed before advertising the class.

Oh my gosh, that is horrible, Mattye! Our instructor credentials are regulated so that, thankfully, can never happen here...or shouldn't.

The process in Oregon is very regulated and we never have these issues. If the class is advertised for CE, we get them.

If the class was at and supported by your Association, why did they not do their due diligence regarding the instructor?

Have your attorney send a bill to your Association for the time that you wasted on this bogus class.

Check with your board, and the department of real estate in Texas. We have lots of Texas members, Patricia Feager , Dorie Dillard Lisa Von Domek just to name a few. They are all very knowledgeable, A

The process for regulating continuing education and being certified as an instructor is very regulated for the State of TX. The fact that the class was stopped and you were informed is a good thing. If you have more questions, you should consult with your Broker or the Officers of CCAR and get more information. This is not a question for ActiveRain.

Ouch! Check the TREC website to see if they have a list of approved educators. I believe California has something like that.

Don't know about Texas but in TN the classes are posted with their CE on the commission's website. I know that was discouraging to learn those classes were not CE.

Whoever sponsored the class SHOULD have verified that. I am not a fan of SHOULD yet it does apply in some cases, as in this one.
The best way to verify is to ask. Get written confirmation of the certification and then verify/validate that with the source.

Check with your real estate commission to verify they are authorized to teach the class for credit

Hope you didn't pay? In IL they must be licensed same as agents which you can check online at any time.

First you can check the TREC website look up their real estate license number, if they are an instructor they will also have an instructor number. Also you could call the TREC education department (512 936 3120) and see which courses that instructor is approved to teach.

What a shock that must have been! We already have our licenses but we do check on our state's website when recommending a RE class to those who ask.

that's dreadful. I'm an instructor and I take my pocket card and include a copy of it in my classes with their material.
